Santa Clara County reached a sobering milestone yesterday, surpassing 1,000 COVID-19 related deaths amid a continuing surge in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations,... and deaths. Our hearts go out to everyone in our community who has lost a loved one due to COVID-19, said Dr. Sara Cody, Health Officer and Director of Public Health for the County of Santa Clara. One thousand deaths is a devastating and tragic milestone for our community. We mourn each life lost, and our goal continues to be to save as many lives as possible. The harsh reality is that COVID-19 continues to be extremely widespread in our county and throughout the state. Even though we’ve all been sacrificing for almost a year to fight this virus, prevent infections, and return to our normal lives, we must remain vigilant or we will see more deaths and extreme challenges for our hospitals and healthcare systems. Following updates from the County of Santa Clara, California and California Department of Public Health, the City of San José's 296 playgrounds will begin to r...eopen starting Thursday, December 10. Those who choose to use the newly opened amenities must follow all posted signage as well as County Public Health Orders. Guidelines for use include washing or sanitizing your hands before and after using playground/exercise equipment; wearing face coverings at all times; keeping a six-foot distance from those outside of your household; staying home if anyone in the household is ill; not sharing personal items or toys; and sanitizing equipment before and after use with EPA approved disinfectants as the equipment is not sanitized. In compliance with the Santa Clara County and State Stay-at-Home orders, Happy Hollow is temporarily closed to the public, and reservations are on hold until Ha...ppy Hollow announces a new reopening date. We know that our guests and community have a lot of questions, so we are sharing some answers to our frequently asked questions below and online at www.happyhollow.org/faq What if I have a reservation to Walk through the Zoo? All reservations for Walk through the Zoo will be rescheduled once Happy Hollow announces a reopening date. When will Happy Hollow reopen? Currently, the Stay-at-Home order is in effect through January 4, however we will continue to monitor and comply with all county and state orders and guidance from the City’s Emergency Operations Center. We will announce a new reopening date once more information is available. Will my membership be extended for the length of the closure? All memberships were automatically extended during our first closure from March to November. To help support Happy Hollow during this temporary closure, we ask members to please donate the time we are closed from your membership to the Zoo. If you would like to opt-out of this and receive an extension for the duration of our current closure (starting December 7), please contact our Membership team before January 1, 2021 by emailing [email protected] How will I know when Happy Hollow is re-opening? Please continue checking our website, www.happyhollow.org for updates and follow us here on social media. You can also sign up for our email updates. Look for the E-blast Sign-Up on the bottom right corner of our home page to enter your email onto our mailing list. We will share updates as soon as details are confirmed. How can I support Happy Hollow during the closure? We are so grateful for your support throughout this entire year and always! We encourage our community to stay connected with us on social media to see what is happening at the Park & Zoo as we continue providing the very best care for our animals during our temporary closure. You can also support Happy Hollow by making a donation to our non-profit partner, Happy Hollow Foundation. Click the donate button on our page to make a donation, or learn more at www.happyhollow.org/donate I emailed/called Happy Hollow about my reservation today and haven't heard back yet.
