Update Hello. First our condolences to anyone who has lost someone due to Covid. And to anyone who has contracted it, we hope that you recover(ed) quickly. Currently there have been an alarming 213,000 plus deaths in the States in a very short period of time. And there is no definitive end in sight. This is a very unfortunate situation. Please stay safe. ... We do miss regularly seeing everyone and for sure hope that we can return to the mats soon. For now we are resolved by the recent messages and calls; thank you, it’s been nice catching up. Over the past few months I have been actively filming material, brainstorming with peers, speaking with legal and insurance companies as well as getting input from our student base. All good and very useful material. So what is the consensus as it effects us and our businesses? The covid situation is different for everyone-everywhere. I’m sure by now that is well known. And there isn’t clear guidance on best business practices yet. This is the dilemma as it effects the academy. But we are working on it. Currently there are positive discussions about our States gradual reopening. More specifically the reopening of our local schools. As this reopening begins, we will be closely monitoring all data and progress on a weekly basis. However, the academy will NOT be reopening at the same time. I apologize, but we need to make every effort to open safely and STAY open. Right now this isn’t possible. As a parent and business owner my frustrations are many. But not more than my confidence in our health professionals and their continued guidance. I’ll inform you all when we are finally in a good position to reopen. Hello. I hope everyone is doing well. Here’s a quick update. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was designing a light shirt/sweater. And we had it mostly completed. We finished the order yesterday and they will be here by the end of this month. Some of you pre-ordered, and will get yours first. I have more, but not a lot. These shirts are light - Dryfit/Polyester air wicking material. If you’d like to assure that you can get one, please message me color, quantity and size(s). We have three colors to choose from and sizes are adult Small to XXX-Large. White is our Familia shirt. Charcoal Grey is our Fuerza shirt. Blue is our El Mar shirt.

Good afternoon. I wanted to briefly send a message to my students, their families and our friends. I’m thinking of you all. As the new school year approaches we are faced with some very real challenges; A new mode of learning and the many uncertainties due to the Pandemic to name just a few. During our closure my children have been showing me how they use technology for their leisure time. And I must say they are capable of so much and can use it (e.g. the internet) in w...ays I rarely considered. They have shown me the various YouTube channels they follow and how they translate what they peruse to their fun and everyday practice. And I gotta say some of these YouTubers are brilliant and I’ve learned so much for my own purposes. I could continue... The point is, what my boys have shown me gives me confidence and has eased my mind about the school year. They can quickly adapt and utilize information in many ways. They will be ready. Anyway, I believe that now is not the time for complaining and desperation, that will not help the challenges ahead. The time has come to get involved and take the new year as a team approach. I suggest we tighten our laces and be ready for whatever comes. We should assume the role of home teacher/tutor and use our resources to adapt and help them to further their development. For sure our next generation so very much needs it right now. This is an very unusual start to the school year and the academy will be back in one way or another when we are able. For now we are preparing and dealing with this new circumstance day by day. We miss you all, wish you well and for sure know you will be ready for the many challenges ahead. Take care. Update Hello I hope you all are doing well and are safe. I wanted to provide an update regarding the academy and future plans. We are still not open and don’t know when that will be. Yet the plan is to return to regular classes just as soon as we are able. In the meantime, we are collectively working to determine what that experience will be like and what future best practices will entail. We are making sure that we can keep everyone safe and that the services you receive... will be better going forward. Now, the academic school year is slated to begin in our district at the end of August. With distance learning being the mode of instruction. And while the district has a particular set of rules/ protocol they follow, please understand that the academy/ business may or may not have the same. Again the goal is to resume in person classes and remain open for the long term. We miss you all. Please continue to contact us if you have any questions. We ARE NOT closing for good, just until such time that we can stay open and remain in compliance. All of our members will be contacted directly as soon as we are able to open. Unfortunately the academy will be closed until August 3rd; which is the day I have elected classes to resume. This is assuming the conditions surrounding COVID are favorable and we can remain in compliance with the guidelines from the State and County. This is the appropriate choice considering all that has happened and what has yet to present itself in the coming weeks. I apologize for any inconvenience and I thank you all for your dedication and support. Please be safe this weekend and message me with any questions you may have.

Hello. Regretfully I have made the decision to suspend the In person KIDS CLASS thru the month of July. Zooming will be emphasized and the times will be announced. We will re-evaluate August 1st. This is never an easy decision, yet the appropriate one given the times. Please remember: masks are required at the academy. If you forget yours, we will provide one for you each time you visit. I am still planning on purchasing masks for the academy. But this order will take some time. Thank you for your understanding and if you have any questions, please send a message. Thank you.

Hello. Many of you were nice enough to anonymously participate in my survey; After Covid. And also shared it with your friends and family. Thank you very much. This data is a tremendously valuable tool and has given insight into behavior trends as well as attitudes toward Covid and it’s current effects on our lives. There were a total of 94 responses and you are welcome to view the results here. Thank you again and I hope that this helps your planning as it has done for m...e. At the academy, we are now wearing masks and making every effort to socially distance. Please let me know if you have concerns regarding this mandate. We are trying to do a few things here; keep the academy open and you safe while you enjoy this experience. I’d also like to add that nothing is perfect and we are making every effort to stay in compliance. If we cannot operate in a safe manner, we will close until further notice. We aren’t there yet. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

There has been a recent mandate by the State of California regarding masks. Please wear the mask of your choosing to the academy and while on the mats. It is a very mild inconvenience that could effectively help slow the spread of Covid and other illnesses. Thank you.

We don’t have to agree, but for sure we don’t need to hate. Or enable systems that do. The mats are a sanctuary and the lines that divide us can be resolved many ways.
