We are so excited to invite you all to an Earth Day celebration with our friend David Griswold! Fur & Feather Stand Together: An Earth Day Celebration Thursday, April 22nd, 4:00 p.m.... No matter fur or feather, we have to stand together to change the climate for the good! Join author David Griswold for a reading of his new book Fur & Feather Stand Together and stay for Earth Day activities for kids of all ages and a Q&A! Fur & Feather Stand Together tells the tale of two unlikely friends--a puffin and a polar bear--joining together with their community to save the ice that is melting around them. But what starts as a small effort to solve this local problem grows, through stories and small acts of compassion, into a global movement of animals and humans, all standing up with and for each other. To join us, please register with your email at https://ccclib.bibliocommons.com/e/604be049d8233a450060b110 You will receive information on how to access the Zoom event on the day before the program. This program will be recorded for later viewing on our Facebook page at https://facebook.com/ccclib and YouTube page https://youtube.com/theccclib

Over the past year, the Bay Area and cities across the United States have seen an uptick of racist attacks against Asian people and communities. El Cerrito Library joins in solidarity with our Asian, Asian American, Pacific Islander, and all BIPOC community members. We stand alongside the American Library Association and the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA) in recognizing and condemning anti-Asian hate crimes. We encourage you to join us in showing your ...support by learning how to keep each other safe. Please take action with this list of resources and share them widely in your community: Safety Tips (in multiple languages) and Bystander Intervention Training: https://stopaapihate.org/resources/ Oakland Asian Cultural Center (@oaklandasiancc) Safety Resource List: http://bit.ly/3arUnWO Sign up to escort AAPI elders in Oakland Chinatown: http://bit.ly/3psUshl APALA Resource Guide on Anti-Asian Violence: http://bit.ly/asianresources

Our bottle cap collection is complete!!!! Thank you so much El Cerrito for rising to the occasion and donating what we think might come to over 1000 bottle caps! Since we now have bottle caps for days, we are no longer collecting them at the front door. ... (This picture doesn’t even show the approximately 450 caps already in the activity kits we are assembling) #ElCerrito #elcerritolibrary #library
