You can come cheer us on at the Fiesta of the Spanish Horse in the Fiesta of the Spanish Horse Colonial Spanish Horse Division April 26-28, 2018. You will see Jeff Ohaco and Abigail Anne Followwill show Cochise and Monterey in the Working Equitation division and then our stallions, Donatello and Truffles and mares, Isabella, Ariel and Coletta in the Colonial Spanish division. A big thank you to Nick Alexander Phillips ...for his incredible eye and guidance in helping us get these guys ready for their first halter classes! And a special shout out to Dr. Richard Stevens of Conejo Valley Equine and UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine alum, Dr. Kristen Brown who have been an integral part of helping us manage this herd and helping us get them bred! We are so grateful for this valuable collaboration with Dr. Amy McLean and the amazing minds that she has been able to recruit. The Livestock Conservancy have been champions of these horses and so many at-risk and endangered breeds and we are so appreciative of their continuing efforts on behalf of so many wonderful, heritage livestock breeds.

Get to know resident super star, Sanceo

One gorgeous colt on the ground, one more to go! The Santa Cruz Island Horses preservation project has been an incredibly valuable and unexpected journey in my... horse life and career. Last year, with the help of UC Davis’ Dr. Amy McLean , Dr. Jim Murray, Dr. Stuart Meyers, and a lot of miles looking at potential stallions to expand the very narrow gene pool of the SCI horses, we made the decision to breed to the very special Xerez Lusitano stallion owned by, Janice Cline. Aside from his obvious good looks, we chose him for his exceptional disposition and conformational similarities to our SCI herd. One of the hallmarks of this breed is how easy they are to work with which makes them ideal children’s and amateur horses. Special thanks to Richard Stevens and his stellar team at Conejo Valley Equine for getting these girls bred, and making sure that they were healthy and happy while they were/are cooking these babies! Come cheer us on at The Fiesta Spanish Horse at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center the last weekend in April! Abigail Anne Followwill and Jeff Ohaco will be showing two geldings, two stallions and three mares over four days of competition.
