Today we were robbed by these four men. We are indeed fortunate that no one was injured. I was there when it happened. I can tell you that I don’t even care abo...ut what was stolen. Money can be made with hard work. What can’t be salvaged is my parent’s peace of mind. The fear I saw in their eyes, I will never forget. I am touched and grateful for your genuine concern and advice. I would like to address everyone’s concerns because I can’t respond to every comment. The job of a security guard is to observe and report. They are not police officers. Put yourself in their shoes. Would you risk your life to stop them? The Asian Garden Mall security team should be commended for their quick response, not blamed. We really didn’t know at the time if they were armed. A gun battle inside the mall would only put others in danger. Assumptions have been made we are unarmed inside our business. The smash and grab robbery occurred in less than ten seconds. We couldn’t even chase after them. Considering the laws in California, had I shot unarmed robbers, I would be facing a plethora of charges. Unless a gun was pointed in my direction, would murder be justified? As far as race is concerned, I only see criminals and not the color of their skin. The first security guard to come to our aid when we were robbed was a black man. Placing blame or racial discrimination will set us back, not only in the investigation but also as a community. The police are swamped with work, especially at this time of year. They must deal with rapists, murderers and God knows what else. For this reason, I chose to bring this to the public’s attention and ask for help to identify the gang of thieves who are terrorizing hard working citizens. My hope is that we can work together to catch these young criminals because their crimes will only evolve into more heinous ones. We are not the first jewelry store they robbed. So far I am aware of an incident in Rosemead and another in China Town by the same group. I can’t help what others comment but I can speak for myself and the business I run. I will definitely take the necessary steps to increase security. Thank you so much for helping me share the footage. Merry Christmas everyone!
