ECS Innovation & Entrepreneurship Academy THEME: HOW BIG IDEAS ARE BORN Learn the tools and processes used by entrepreneurs and innovators to generate innovative products and services. The academy will consist of five 60-minute sessions. Each session will be highly interactive. All ECS students are welcome. ... No advanced preparation is required and no homework will be assigned. (This will not add to your already crazy pandemic-fueled workload.) The sessions will be facilitated by ECS's entrepreneur in residence, Dr. Atul Teckchandani. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate (signed by Dean Barua and Dr. Atul Teckchandani) that can be added to your resume and just might, in certain lighting conditions, be mistaken for a diploma. There will be an opportunity to apply for scholarship support. The date and time of each session is TBD, with a goal of finding a day and time that works for as many students as possible. TOMORROW!!!!! Learn what it takes to give a winning business pitch for the Titan Fast Pitch competition!!! Online Event:... Fri, September 11, 2020 11:00 AM 12:30 PM PDT The Titan Fast Pitch is a competition for students who want to blaze their own trail! Are you ready to compete? Not so fast. For this competition, students are challenged to deliver a recorded 90 second pitch for their business. While 90 seconds doesn’t seem like a long time it is deceptively difficult to fit all that needs to go into a winning pitch within that time frame. A winning pitch must have certain parts, including: a clear explanation of the problem, a description of a good solution, and, most importantly, a clear vision of the overall business opportunity. To give a good pitch you have to make it so that the person listening to your pitch is interested. To give a great pitch you must make it so that the listener is so excited about what you are doing they can’t wait to hear more. There is a lot that goes into crafting the perfect pitch and to help you craft yours Atul Teckchandani, Associate Professor of Management at Cal State Fullerton, is here for you. Atul has taught entrepreneurship for years and has developed this powerful boot camp to help you powerfully communicate your business concept in just 90 seconds. Being able to give a powerful business pitch will not only help you compete in the Titan Fast Pitch but will help you in business, whether you are starting a business, describing a project you are working on, or telling someone you have just met about yourself. As in life, first impressions are important in business and having the ability to give a great pitch is an excellent way to get investors, business partners, and customers. http://ow.ly/TP2t50B9YiO Are you ready to start your entrepreneurial journey? #csuf #csufecs #business #student #entrepreneurship #startup #competition #pitching

Heyyyyyy! Welcome New & Returning ECS students! We are so happy to start the semester with you and look forward to a great year! #backtoschool #csuf #fallsemester #virtualsemester #calstatefullerton #firstdayofschool Please read the welcome message from our dean below: Dear Titans,... Welcome to the new academic year and the Fall 2020 semester. Whether you are a new or a returning student, we are very excited to have you here. As the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS), let me extend a personal welcome. You will be starting your semester in rather unprecedented circumstances and your learning will occur in a primarily virtual setting. Please know that we are all committed to providing an exceptional education and a range of opportunities for you to excel. Your academic success is important to us! As you start the new academic year, please take advantage of the many services and opportunities provided by the College. Please visit http://www.fullerton.edu/ecs/resources/ to learn more about the support services and resources available in the college. Student clubs are an integral part of the college. There are roughly 25-30 active organizations in ECS, one of the highest numbers across the academic colleges on campus. I encourage you to become involved with the ECS cultural organizations such as Latinos in Science and Engineering (MAES), National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), and several professional society chapters related to engineering and computer science. Members of our student chapters participate in national competitions, invite professional speakers on campus, tour local companies, and organize student social activities. Please visit http://www.fullerton.edu/ecs/resources/ecs_student_clubs.php for a complete list of cultural and professional organizations in ECS. ECS courses are taught by dedicated and enthusiastic faculty members, some of whom have already received national-level recognition for their work. Students will have numerous opportunities to interact with our faculty members and participate in research and design projects. Furthermore, our college partnerships with leading companies enable students and faculty to collaborate on funded projects of mutual interest with engineers and scientists in the industry. Students gain invaluable practical experience and develop the skills necessary to work effectively in an industrial environment. We are here and ready to support and guide you in navigating through your academic journey. At Cal State Fullerton's College of Engineering and Computer Science, you will learn, invent and explore possibilities. When you graduate, you will be ready to take on a challenging and rewarding career. We are looking forward to meeting you soon in person! Best, Susamma (Susan) Barua, PhD Dean, College of Engineering and Computer Science
