1 out of every 10 people diagnosed with COVID-19 in our county have needed to be hospitalized. More than a third of these people need an ICU bed. Do your part by wearing a mask, social distancing, and limiting interactions with those outside your household. ALL of us need to redouble our efforts. If you are a frontline worker, please get tested for COVID-19 once a month - even if you don’t have symptoms. This includes people who may be at greater risk of COVID-19 exposure, such as: healthcare workers; care providers for the elderly or disabled; people working in shelters, jails, or other settings with large residential populations; first responders; grocery and food service workers; agricultural and food supply workers; public transit workers; childcare, school, and h...igher education teachers and staff; and all others who are included in the regulation (https://wpso.dmhc.ca.gov/regula//regs/50/1594998444637.pdf). Testing helps our community determine how many cases exist and helps us understand how and where the virus is spreading. Testing also helps identify people who are asymptomatic so they can stay away from work and public places until their infectious period is over. Go to sccfreetest.org to learn more about how to get tested today!

What's eerie about the flu is how myths creep into our lives as quickly as the virus circulates. Don't be tricked this season.

During challenging times like these, it’s more important than ever that we lift each other up. Here’s one way to support a worthy cause, while doing something for yourself. The County of Santa Clara’s Office of Reentry Services is hosting the inaugural virtual 5K, called Rise Up and Run. Proceeds will help provide clothes for individuals recently released from incarceration who could use a hand turning their life around. Halloween is coming soon! Traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating is unsafe this year due to it bringing multiple people from different households together. You can still decorate your spaces and admire the houses in your neighborhood while wearing face masks and keeping distance from those outside your household (more distance the better!). Reply in the comments with your photos! For more safe Halloween activity suggestions, visit: https://direc.to/fcAo

Santa Clara County has met the state thresholds to allow us to move into the Orange Tier. To keep schools open and allow additional schools to reopen, we need to continue to socially distance from others and to keep wearing our masks to keep COVID rates low.
