Corbett Slope California Native Plant Garden

Happy Autumn Equinox! Decades ago, Corbett Slope was a community garden and a few old fruit trees are still left from that time, including this little apple tree with exactly four small apples on it.

Construction is going steady out on the landing at Corbett Slope!

Did some last minute cleanup today, because tomorrow construction starts on some major improvements to the park! We also got to enjoy some of the plants in bloom right now.

Asclepias fascicularis, Narrow-leaf milkweed in bloom. An ideal host plant of the Monarch butterfly.

A selection of native plants, these were planted nearly three years ago and are getting huge! Cercocarpus betuloides (birch leaf mountain mahogany) and Ribes sanguineum (red-flowering currant), both 5 feet tall.

All the rain has made for some very happy plants out on the Slope!

With an immense amount of joy, I am excited to announce that Corbett Slope has been the recipient of a $150,000 grant. The money will be used for landscaping and hardscaping improvements, and also to provide more California native plants for the garden. Stay tuned for progress reports on the garden! Renovations coming soon.
