The engineering and data science teams at CompanionLabs have been busy in February and this month's release proves it. Highlights and link below. Performance Trends: We break down your performance by funnel stage, make it relative to your performance goals, and we've introduced a sweet moving average so you can understand trends that matter and cut out the noise. You'll love it. And if you're an agency, you'll love using it for clients. Easily export any visualization to ...PDF. Impact Analysis: Performance Trends have been incorporated throughout the app. Now, anytime you click on an ad set name, you can see the Performance Trends for the ad set and we've layered in the budget, bidding, and pause recommendations you've applied so you can clearly see the impact our algorithm is making on your ad performance. Grading of Campaigns and Ads: We're now surfacing CL grades for your campaigns and ads in addition to your ad sets. The campaign-level grading is a precursor to our support for CBO in the next few months. The ad-level grading combined with our predictive grading from last month is a game changer for rapidly testing new ads. Let the CL algorithm tell you if your new creative is a winner or loser in the first 12, 24, and 36 hours (before any conversions even come in). If you have any questions DM us or ask below and we'll answer. Dutch and the rest of the Customer Success team is here to help. Facebook Ads Quick Tip: Ad Set Spend Limits for CBO Campaigns We have been getting a lot of questions recently about our planned support for Campaign Budget Optimization in May with FB's recent announcement to move exclusively to CBO in September. There will be more to come on that in the next month, but for now we thought it would be really useful to highlight a key FB setting that we're seeing overlooked by a lot of advertisers.... If you've used CBO in the past or are currently testing it out, you've probably gotten mixed results. Sometimes FB does a good job of optimizing and allocating budget across ad sets and other times you're cringing in disbelief observing the decisions that its making. It's usually a coin flip. Currently, we're seeing CBO work best if there is consistency both in audience size and the stage of the ad sets in the CBO campaign (e.g.: new CBO campaign, new ad sets, all targeting audiences in the 1M - 2M range). Even then, there are still cringe-worthy moments. Where it breaks down more often is if there is significant variance in audience sizes, or let's say you rotate in two new ad sets into the campaign you want to test. In these scenarios, CBO often is over-allocating to the ad sets with smaller audiences and is spending more on the new ad sets than you normally would if you're in a test phase. To counter this, an important setting that Facebook has made available is Ad Set Spend Limit. At the ad set level, you can set a min and max value for your daily spend - kinda like a budget. ;) For our customers who are running CBO, we're seeing it set only 1% of the time. If you've had negative or mixed results with CBO, it's worth giving it another shot and make sure to use this setting. -The CL Team Not a CompanionLabs user? We wanted to kick 2019 off to a great start with the January Release. We've rolled out some big additions that you have been asking for! Highlights below Predictive Grade Assignment: the CL algorithm evaluates upstream metrics like CPM, social engagement, CTR, Add To Cart (if purchase) prior to conversions happening to assign grades if these upstream metrics are strong predictive indicators of future conversion performance for your ad account. Please note, you'll get p...ause recommendations when you get a predictive grade, but budget, bidding, and creative refresh recommendations still are only made once a grade is assigned by conversion performance for the end event/goal the ad set is optimizing too. Recency Weighting: Some advertisers place more value on performance over the last 3 days vs. over the last week or 14 days. The preference of the advertiser can be driven by the consideration cycle of consumers for whatever the product or service is, but often its simply just a preference. Now you can guide the CompanionLabs algorithm accordingly. Display All Grades In Ads Manager: Bye bye CLTRACK. With this setting, you no longer have to put CLTRACK at the end of an ad set name to see grade and trend arrows show up in Ads Manager. Toggle this on and you're done. New Recommendation Emails: Daily recommendation emails now include counts for all recommendations (Budget, Bidding, Creative, and Pause)! If you're not getting these, make sure to update your email address in the Contact Info section in Settings. All New Tutorial Videos: We rolled out over 18 new tutorial videos for you to get the most out of CompanionLabs. You can watch them here http://bit.ly/CL-videos Embedded Satisfaction Survey: You'll see this pop up in app from time to time. It will be less than 4 questions (and two are multiple choice). We won't bug you with it. Promise. If you have any questions DM us or ask below and we'll answer. Dutch and the rest of the Customer Success team is here to help. Not a CompanionLabs user?
