We are SO excited to hear that our nurses have began to receive their vaccination. As one of our nurses said, I want our families to know we have confidence in the COVID19 vaccine & we are doing what we need to do to protect ourselves, our families, our patients & our community!

It’s the second Monday of the year and so much has already happened. If you are feeling heavy, know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Take a second to breath and if you need to, talk to someone! #mentalhealthmonday #repost @laurajaneillustrations **** Sometimes life feels heavy & all the little things build up until you feel like you can’t hold it together anymore.... You don’t have to hold it together though. Let go. Put it down. It’s okay to not be okay, But talk about it with someone and share the weight you carry. Bottling up what you feel makes it seem like there is no escape, that things will always be like this... But that’s just not true. You will find happiness again, You will feel lightness in your life. It’s okay that you’re not there yet, But remember you don’t have to go through the hard days alone. #talkaboutit #letstalkaboutmentalhealth #depression #seasonalaffectivedisorder #darkdays #hopelessness #hope #sharetheburden #talktosomeone #askforhelp #itsokaytoaskforhelp #itsokaytotalkaboutit #talkabouthowyoufeel #mentalhealth #mentalwellbeing #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters

Lucy is 8 months old and enjoys babbling and watching her older brother play. When she was evaluated for physical therapy back in April 2020, she was having difficulty with feeding and gaining weight which prevented her from exploring her world and made her very tired. She now uses a g-tube for nourishment and is catching up on her gross motor skills like rolling, sitting and standing with support. Before, she would not have been able to hold her head up to take this sweet picture, but now look at her!

Meet Alyssa. She has a rare chromosome abnormality, Cerebral Palsy, and several other complications that make her immunocompromised. She is on constant oxygen and has iron infusions weekly. But all of that doesn’t stop her from enjoying the little things in life like stickers, anything Disney, and daily photo sessions. Check out how cute she and her seizure alert dog, Elmo, are!! We are so lucky to have special kids like these under our care at Coastal Kids!

Good morning from Abby! When Abby was born in 2016, she was a wee 1lb 10oz and her early months in the neo-natal intensive care unit at @ucsfchildrens were complicated by challenges with breathing and eating. Doctors placed a g-tube to support nutrition and weight gain and a tracheostomy to protect her fragile airway. Although Abby still has some ongoing medical issues, she is growing and progressing each day. And with the help of our shift nursing, it’s obvious Abby believes there is no place like home PSCoastal Kids families don’t forget to send us pictures of your kids in their costumes!

Still in need of some fun *safe* ways to celebrate Halloween weekend?! Making yummy snack is always our go-to! Check this out! #repost @bayarea.moms **** @cassidy.c.clark you are so fun! My kids will love doing this. Thanks for sharing it with us! . Zombie Pretzel Bites are another simple, quick (and YUMMY) spooky treat, perfect for little helping hands! We make them with Skittles or M&M’s - both are delicious, but Skittles add a surprising little fruity punch that’s extra am...azing (think fruity pebbles or fruit loops)...just sayin’... #halloween #halloweentreats #halloweenparty #kidsparty #zombie #skittles #pretzels #candy #halloweencandy #kidspartyideas #wiltoncakes #wilton #bayareamoms #bayareamom See more

As we head into the last week of October, we want to acknowledge that October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month. If you or someone you care about has lost a child to stillbirth, miscarriage, SIDS, or any other cause at any point during pregnancy or infancy, please join us in raising awareness this October for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Tens of thousands of families across the United States are devastated each year by the death of their baby. But the ...grief of these families and the value of their babies’ lives are very rarely acknowledged. Coastal Kids Home Care is a complex, but much needed organization in the community. With so many services and phenomenal counselors that specialize in the grief of losing a child or a sibling, we are here for you. Perinatal loss is a program that we are growing as we see the huge need & the impact on so many woman & couples. If you or someone you know needs someone to talk to, please feel free to reach out to us to speak to a counselor . . . . . . . #coastalkidshomecare #sanbenito #santaclara #santacruz #monterey #pediatrics #palliativecare #grief #counseling #griefcounseling #medical #medicalcare #pediatriccare #support #love #help #helpeachother #community #local #localcare #infantloss #infantlossawareness #infantlossawarenessmonth See more

Oops! We forgot #workplacewednesday !! It may be a day late, but it is certainly still deserved. This week we want to give a shoutout to our new Pediatric RN, Devon. Since she has come on in June, she has made a huge impact on her families. She communicates well with them and makes sure they feel supported. Her work has also supported the other nurses on the team. We are so happy to have her at Coastal Kids Home Care!

Check out some more cool ways to celebrate a *safe* Halloween! #repost @helloashleytoth **** Here is the last project I did for a socially distant @parents Halloween story, monster door decor where the treats are grab and go! No hands in a bowl this year, it’s all about contactless delivery of candy. And I was finally able to fulfill my dream of using tissue grass mats in a big project to channel Fraggle Rock.

Happy Monday!!! Did you know that today is World Pediatric Bone and Joint Day? October 19 highlights the impact of #musculoskeletal conditions on #children while enabling them to have a healthy diet and being active. Why is #worldpediatricboneandjointday important? (1) WE HAVE MUCH TO LEARN.Children around the world experience bone and joint problems. This day strives to help those with and without them learn about the causes, symptoms, and treatments. (2) IT PUSHES... PREVENTION.Childhood obesity is a big contributor to bone and joint problems both as a child and later in life. Understanding the long-term consequences and learning techniques to lose weight contribute to preventing problems in the first place. (3) IT HIGHLIGHTS OTHER ISSUES. Childhood obesity also causes many other health problems, like diabetes and heart disease. Understanding one of the repercussions of obesity like bone and joint problems, can help clarify the larger problem. See more
