The Mystery Box team is a new asynchronous program designed to give students something creative to do during breaks from Zoom. We're launching with Friendship in a Box! A way to connect with one of your friends from CMC or with a new mystery friend! We'll send you a ton of craft supplies (Embroidery thread for you to make friendship bracelets, blank flipbooks, colored pencils, origami paper, mini-embroidery hoops and fabric) you make a bunch of things for your friend, decorate the box, and then drop it in the mail with the provided shipping label. We're going to have some bonus prizes so make sure to take photos and share what you create!

OHHHHHH WE’RE HALFWAY THERE Since this unkind semester did not bring a Fall Break, we wanted to encourage you to build your own! Or BYOFB as the cool kids say. Swipe for some inspo! There might be too many papers, readings, exams, meetings, deadlines, etc. in the second half of Fall, but we promise that taking a step back (away from literally ANY screen) to ground yourself in your priorities and what truly matters will be key to ending this semester strong.... Celebrate your big and small wins thus far, be kind to yourself, and GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK!

Just because World Mental Health Day has concluded doesn't mean we will stop talking about it. We want to remind you that it is okay to not feel okay, and that we have many resources available, should you need them. See below for the variety of ways you can access support for your mental and emotional health this semester.

Tired of hearing about the presidential election? Exhausted by the scene? Just here to point out that the November 2020 elections matter on the state and local arenas in a huge way too. For California residents - a great non-partisan guide to voting on the 12 propositions is available at calmatters.org. In California's 12 props on the ballot are matters incl. Stem Cell Research, Restoring Affirmative Action, Parolees Right To Vote, Voting at 17 years old, Data Privacy, Re...nt Control, and others. Scan this very user friendly CA voter education summary and if these things matter to you as a CA resident -- vote in November. Those of you who are at home or in other states this fall, your state likely has similar local voter guides. It's about more than the presidential election. In our 50 states -- there are 99 legislative chambers and 86 of those 99 state legislative chambers are holding elections this November. calmatters.org

JaDa Johnson ‘21 used study abroad experiences to tackle one of the most seemingly abundant resources, water. Its availability is a privilege that many thro...ughout the world don’t have. JaDa, while immersed in the vibrant cultures of Jordan and Cuba, was challenged to create proposals to help those around her. As an international relations major, I’m interested in continuing to better understand water security. I hope to be able to contribute to efforts securing clean water access to those in need, and that could be through so many ways, whether through conducting field research for NGOs or helping to write policy at the international level. Just knowing that I can productively contribute to such an important cause is what matters and is the driving force for why I study IR. Having written research papers regarding the use of water in international negotiations in both of my semesters abroad in Jordan and Cuba, I feel as though I have barely scratched the surface, so furthering the work only seems necessary.
