We thought it would be fitting to celebrate our Solar Project Manager, Ryan Carillo, who is enjoying his first year with us this month. Ryan has a strong background in electrical systems, back to his early days managing a local landscaping company. Having worked in the solar field for 10 years now, his insight assists in the successful planning of our solar builds, resulting in more freedom from our public utility. There’s much more to being comfortable than having a great working heating and air system, especially if you have some things in your home working against you. The outside air has many ways to get in, so let’s take this opportunity to remind you of things in your home that stop letting the outside air in. Sure, you might have dual pane windows, they becam...e common practice since 2006. But the windows, most everything, can become compromised and the argon gas that stops the outside temperature transfer can leak. Things to look for are cracks on either the inside or outside pane, or fog/condensation between the panes and/or around the weather strip or window frame. The good news is that you can replace the glass and not the entire window in many cases. You should always consider the variety of possible air leaks when you’re feeling like your heating and cooling aren’t up to snuff. Our sales manager, Matthew Plunkett, is no stranger to the renewable energy field. While you’re nice and cool inside, your A/C condenser isn’t. While it works tirelessly throughout the day, dust and dirt build around the coils and create a loss of heat transfer throughout. If you’re noticing a reduction in effectiveness, it might be time to clean your unit. This is best to do in the early morning when you can afford to not have the A/C running for 20-30 minutes. - First make sure that your unit is turned off and that you disconnect power from the breaker.... -Remove the fan from the top of the unit and be sure to not stretch any of the wires. -Spray water from INSIDE the unit outwards with only moderate water pressure, as to not damage the coils. -You can use a coil cleaner or a product like Simple Green. Let sit for 10 minutes and spray again, removing any hardset debris. -Once air dried, reinstall the fan, reconnect the power and enjoy nice cool air in your home again!
