Clear Lake Crappie Association 29.03.2021

This winter bass fishing got off to a slow start, but this week's NewJen tournament trail had their first tournament of the season. Wow is all I can say; the bite is on. There were over 75 boats blasting off, and when it came to weigh in it was amazing, with over 25 boats having over 20 pounds plus, and the winning weight was 32.86 pounds. Congratulations to Mark Crutcher and Brad Amodeo. The big fish of the tournament weighed in at 11.03 pounds. Amazing. These last coupl...e of months I devoted most of my time to locating the number two sought after species, the Clear Lake Crappie. The bite is phenomenal, with my clients catching around 50 to 125 crappies a day. For those who are interested in crappie fishing please go to my Facebook page - Clear Lake Crappie Guide Service. I have several photos of my clients fish caught over the last six weeks. If you're looking to book a trip please call 702-497-8938 or email me at [email protected], and I will send you my guide brochure. I will start booking combo bass and/or crappie trips in February. Thanks Ed Legan See more

BREAKING NEWS: Dave Burruss set new Clear Lake and California state records for a black crappie on Wednesday when he caught this 4 pound, 5.44-ounce fish. The old state record was 4 pounds, 1 ounce. The new record was weighed on a state-certified scale after being weighed on two non-certified scales. Burruss is the owner of Clear Lake Outdoors in Lakeport. (Photo by Terry Knight)

We have waited nearly a year now, and have made a decision that our crappie tournaments will be postponed for 2021. Debi and I really enjoyed meeting all of you and we will be looking at 2022 to start again. Pray that we can get a handle on COVID and back to a normal life. On the positive side, the Crappie fishing is outstanding and I will continue to guide on a limited basis. Please feel free to call me if you’re looking for information or wanting a guide trip at 702-497-8...938, or email me at [email protected], or take look at my Facebook page, Clear Lake Crappie Guide Service. Thank you to our sponsors and our anglers. Ed and Debi Legan Going to include some recent photos of my clients last week and a screenshot of my Humminbird showing how large the schools are. Be safe, and hope to see everyone on the water. See more

Jim Saechao and Manh Saelee tied for 1st place (with Jim Malm and Joe Everett) with a weight of 21.58 pounds, thank you for sharing a video about our first tournament of the season on their "Fishing Addicts" YouTube channel. They discuss how they are catching their fish and the baits they used; it's very informative. Please watch, then "like" and share their page. https://youtu.be/p0eUvSPDmbA

Wow, unbelievable! I didn't think it could happen, but it did-a tie for first place. 21.58 pounds took the win, with last year's winning team defending their title, but they had to share it this time. Congratulations to Jim Malm and Joe Everett, improving on their last year's weight of 21.42, and sharing the honors were Jim Saechao and Manh Saelee (from the Fishing Addicts YouTube Channel). We broke the tie for the money payout with big fish of 2.50 to Jim Malm and Joe Everett. Jim and Manh just missed out with a 2.36 pounder. Manh Saelee also took our Dobyn's women's division and received a Dobyn's Rod for her effort. Dobyns second-place winner in the women's division was Suzanne Radley who fished with Jon Radley, placing 6th overall with 19.03 pounds. Thank you Dobyns Rods, for sponsoring this division.
