BIPOC HEALING CIRCLE Tonight at 7pm on Zoom In honor of Global Awareness Diversity Month and the general election, we will converse about left-wing politics. Our guest speakers are liberal, progressive, and radical, respectively:... Alex Smith is a Louisiana filmmaker working with estate planning and wealth management. Alex not only wants to pass on narratives that stay with people, but also critical wealth building knowledge for BIPOC communities. Ashley R. Metoyer, LCSW, MPA is a first-generation Black woman who is dedicated to delivering services through a social justice lens. Ashley is a Licenced Clinical Social Worker and has more than 15 years of experience working with diverse youth and families. Rebecca Anuru, MSW, MPH is a Black/Hood/queer/radical project manager and consultant serving NYC youth systems. Rebecca (Cashapp: $Anuru) is the founder of Dream Keep Consulting, a firm that serves Black Hood youth and the folks that care for them. To create a brave space for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), the BIPOC Healing Community is for ‘self-identified’ BIPOC only. White allies, friends, and family are asked to respect the intention for this group by not attending. Please check the weekly enews and our social media platforms for other events. THE SANCTUARY: Join us on Sunday, October 18th at 10am PT for the livestream from our beautiful sanctuary to enjoy music, Scripture, and a message entitled "The Greatest and Hardest Commandment" by Rev. Molly Vetter. The commandment to love God and neighbor is at the heart of our Christian faith. This law is neither easy nor uncomplicated, but it invites us to access a fullness of life that we can only reach through love. Download the worship guide at www.bit.ly/wgOctober2520...20. ONLINE GIVING: To make one-time or recurring donation online, go to www.WestwoodUMC.org/Give. FOLLOW UP: At 11am via Zoom, Pastor Molly will host a Follow Up entitled Poetry and Commandments where you will be invited into several small group conversations for further conversation about our scripture passages from worship this week. The Zoom link is available in your weekly e-news or by contacting Sabrina Simmons at [email protected].

Join Ms. Deanna this Sunday at 9:45am to see if you can answer two tricky questions - "What is the GREATEST commandment?" and "Who IS my neighbor anyway?"

"GOD TALK" with Rev. Dr. John Holbert & Reg Gipson, JD. TONIGHT (7pm) via Zoom Last time we discussed how the Bible came to be, and some implications of this process for how we should think about the Bible. This time we will be discussing some broad themes of the Bible, and how Biblical narratives and themes can lead us to a more abundant life, or set traps for the unwary. In preparation for the discussion we invite you to think about your own use (or not) of the Bible, wha...t you find helpful, and what you find problematic. ... All are welcome to join the conversation TONIGHT at 7pm on zoom! For the join link, please email Sabrina ([email protected]) - hint: it's the same link from before. See more
