In June, 2019, Pleasant Hill City Council voted to join MCE to offer more energy choices and cleaner electricity options to residents and businesses. Pleasant Hill is the 15th community in Contra Costa to join MCE. MCE is a public, not-for-profit energy provider that offers customers the option of having up to 100 percent of their electricity supplied by renewable resources, such as solar, wind and hydroelectric. While MCE purchases power, PG&E continues to deliver the elect...ricity, maintain power lines, provide repairs, and handle billing. MCE customers will continue to get one billfrom PG&E. On it, they will see a charge for electric generation from MCE. This is not a new service or added fee; instead, it is replacing PG&E’s generation service. We agree with Rec & Park that play is essential! Play it safe by following the guidelines in their post. Be well, Pleasant Hill.
Seniors - join us on Zoom on Thursday at 11 am for a free interactive workshop on how to safely receive home care during the pandemic, courtesy of Pleasant Hill's Commission on Aging. (https://zoom.us/j/98449816001)
It’s official! Sue Noack is Pleasant Hill’s Mayor for 2021; Michael Harris is Vice Mayor. Congratulations to our new Mayor and Vice Mayor and to Councilmembers Carlson, Flaherty, and Rinn and City Treasurer Celio on serving the City for another term.
On Veterans Day, we thank the men and women who put country first and protected our freedom, including Armando Llacuna of Pleasant Hill. On Saturday, Pleasant Hill Rotarians will be leading a "Salute to Veterans" drive-by parade past many local veterans' homes. If you see them drive by, be sure to wave!
The State on Thursday announced a Regional Stay Home Order for regions with less than 15% ICU capacity. While the Bay Area has not hit that critical level yet, Bay Area Health Officers, including those in Contra Costa County, decided to "pull the emergency brake" now, rather than wait for a future surge in hospitalizations. Take care and be safe, Pleasant Hill.
Please help us bid a fond farewell and send best wishes to our Community Relations Manager, Gayle Vassar, as she retires today. Gayle gracefully stepped in 2 years ago to help the City during the difficult loss of the community and City’s beloved Public Information Officer. Since then, she’s transformed the City’s communications, increasing The Weekly Update subscribers, redesigning The Outlook Newsletter, and keeping the community informed on social media with new library updates and City events as well as providing critical information on PG&E PSPS events, wildfires, and the COVID pandemic. Gayle effortlessly stepped into staffing the Civic Action and Education Commissions and became a valuable part of the City’s Executive Team. We will miss you, Gayle; thank you for your dedication to the City and community!
Pleasant Hill - please take care and be safe as COVID-19 cases rise throughout our county (including in our community).

We are seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Contra Costa County, so county health officials are taking steps to protect the community with modest changes to local health orders. Among the changes: restaurants must scale indoor dining back to 25 %; outdoor bars are prohibited (except where allowed under restaurant guidance with drinks as part of a meal); indoor movie theaters can operate at a maximum 25% of occupancy or 100 people, whichever is fewer; and religious services indoors allowed at a maximum 25% occupancy or 100 people, whichever is fewer (down from 50% occupancy or 200 people) Read more at https://conta.cc/364Rp79
Election Day is here! Ballot drop-off boxes (including the one by front doors at City Hall) are open until 8 p.m., as are the polls for those who like to vote in person. For more information about where to vote, go to https://www.cocovote.us/registration-/vote-on-election-day/
Thank you to our friends at Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District for bringing us together in fun even when we have to stay physically apart!
Great news! Thanks to everyone's hard work, COCID-19 transmission is down in Contra Costa County, and the State has moved us to the less-restrictive orange tier, meaning more businesses and activities can open or expand. https://conta.cc/31POu0R
Pleasant Hill Rotary is organizing a drive-by "Salute to Veterans" for Saturday, Nov. 14. If you or someone you know is a veteran living in Pleasant Hill, please email [email protected] so we can honor you for your service. In addition to being added to the drive-by parade route, participating veterans will receive a flag and a gift card.
511 Contra Costa's new program wants to help you get an e-bike! They're offering rebates to county residents who purchase a new electric bicycle, so they can save money, protect air quality & get out of traffic. 511cc.org/rebate
