UPDATE (10/31/20) - Statement from Southern California Edison (@SCE) About Oct. 26 Power Outage "The Santa Ana wind event on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 26-27, affected residents and businesses across six different counties in Southern California Edison’s service area. Some customers in Malibu received notifications due to a circuit that was not de-energized as part of a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event, but lost power due to Santa Ana winds. Any PSPS notifications that the customers received were in error. SCE understands this confluence of events was confusing and is committed to continuing to improve its notification process to better inform Malibu and other cities of the reasons for de-energizations."

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT APPLICATIONS TO PLANNING DEPT FOR NON-CONFORMING WOOLSEY FIRE REBUILD STRUCTURES - NOVEMBER 8, 2020 The November 8, 2020 deadline to submit a Planning Verification (PV) application to rebuild non-conforming homes and structures destroyed in the Woolsey Fire without having to bring the structure into compliance or seek variances is fast approaching. REMINDER from LA County Dept of Public Health with Halloween coming up: They’ve updated their guidance with ways to gather outdoors with up to 3 households in a bubble. Remember, once you join a bubble, keep each other safe by not joining other bubbles. Keeping the gathering under 2 hours is also recommended as the longer the exposure to other people, the greater the risk of getting #COVID19. For more information, see the press release: http://publichealth.lacounty.gov//media/mediapubdetail.cfm

#Malibu, we just had the most dangerous Santa Ana wind event of the year, with Red Flag conditions, power outages, downed trees, disabled traffic signals, and four small fires, which fortunately were quickly knocked down. Now is the time to learn about the City of #Malibu's Wildfire Evacuation Zones, Evacuation Plan and to make sure that you and your family are ready to evacuate in case a major wildfire threatens our community. The Evacuation Zones are part of the Mass Evacu...ation Plan that the City Council adopted February 24, 2020, following a recommendation from the Malibu Disaster Council. The Mass Evacuation Plan, an update to the City’s Emergency Operations Plan, was created by the public agency working group convened after the Woolsey Fire to improve communication, coordination and response on wildfire evacuations in Malibu. To see Evacuation Plan, Evacuation Zone Maps and related information, visit www.MalibuCity.org/Evac. To see tips on how to prepare for evacuations, including special measures for family pets, horses and other large animals, seniors and people with disabilities, mobility challenges or medical devices, check out the City's free Emergency Survival Guide (p. 10): www.MalibuCity.org/SurvivalGuide. To see tips on how to prepare for power outages, visit the Ready LA County Guide: https://ready.lacounty.gov/power-outage. TIP: During wildfire season, make sure you have go bags ready with clothing, essential documents, cash and cell phone backup batteries. Make sure everyone in your family reviews your emergency plan, evacuation routes and outside meet-up locations. TIP: Keep your car's gas tank full, and make sure you know how to open your garage door or driveway gate manually in case the power is out.
