Happy Valentine’s Day, Lancaster! One of the most popular, cultural trends in the last year has been self-love. And everyone has an opinion on how to do it best. But you know what's great? YOU are the only one who knows the best way to love yourself. So, what is self-love? In general self-love is, "a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth." With that definition, is it any surprise that our self-l...ove needs change over time as we grow? Here are a few of our favorite tips for practicing self-love: Become Mindful - it's unbelievable how much changes when you simply begin to pay attention to each moment as you live it. Live Intentionally - We started practicing this one at the beginning of the month with our "Start. Stop. Continue." method. What other things can you do to ensure you're living the life that you want. Forgive Yourself - Feeling self-critical? Cringey moments got you down? Take some time this Valentine's Day (and every day!) to let go of the past and start fresh. If you'd like to read more about self-love, check out a few articles that we love on the topic! Did you know that the flu shot can be lifesaving for children? A recent study has shown that the flu shot significantly reduces a child's risk of dying from the flu. The flu is also more dangerous than the common cold in young children, especially for those younger than 5 years old. Children who get the flu can develop health complications including pneumonia, sinus problems, dehydration, heart disease or asthma. Any child over six months old can get a flu shot to help keep them healthy this flu season. Find out where you can take your child for a flu shot at CityofLancasterCA.org/Flu. Or, get more information on how the flu can affect children at https://www.cdc.gov/flu/highrisk/children.htm.
