Hello, our wonderful customers! First off, thank you so so much for all your kind words responding to the post about our unfortunate closure due to a case of COVID-19 with one of our team members at our Huntington Beach location. We truly appreciate your support, encouragement, and well-wishes for our team. It truly means a lot. You’ll be happy to know that the team member who tested positive is doing very well and their doctor has said that they have fully recovered.... We are so thankful that they had a mild case and was able to recover without complication. As you can see from the message above, we plan to reopen this coming Thursday, October 15! We want you to feel fully confident and know that we have taken many steps to ensure our team’s and your full safety as we reopen. Just for context, if you may recall, we found out about the positive case last Thursday, though the team member had not been in the store since the previous Friday. Since we found out and closed the store, 100% of our Huntington Beach team and the Blue Bowl owners have received COVID-19 tests, and all have come back negative (the good kind of negative!). This means that the positive case has NOT been transmitted to other team members at Blue Bowl, given their very limited time inside the store and all the safety precautions we take. Last Friday, we also hired a COVID-specialized company to do a full, professional sanitization of the entire Huntington Beach store. We oversaw the cleaning and were very impressed with their thorough work. In addition, the individual who tested positive will continue to self-quarantine until next week as an extra precaution, even though doctors have already given them the green light to return to work. So in sum, with a healthy (and COVID-free) team and a fully sanitized storewe are ready to reopen. Again, thank you SO much for all your support and well wishes to our team. Complete transparency is a core value of ours as such, we were hopeful that this day wouldn't arrive, but unfortunately here we are. Despite everyone's best efforts to follow State and Federal guidelines for health and safety, we just found out that one of our team members at our Huntington Beach location tested positive for COVID-19. First and foremost, our priorities are to ensure the absolute safety of all of our team members and customers.... So that you know, the team member that tested positive for COVID-19 today has not been at the Huntington Beach location since last Friday, October 2. Today, October 8, we immediately made the decision to temporarily close the HB store. No additional team members have shown any symptoms, but out of an abundance of caution and also following mandated State and Federal guidelines, we feel it is best to close. Additionally, all team members from this location are getting tested. We will be hiring a company specialized in COVID-19-related cleaning to do a complete deep cleaning of the HB store. So that you are aware, we will not reopen the store until we have met all the safety guidelines set forth by the CDC. Please note that our other locations (Orange, Costa Mesa, & Long Beach LBX) will remain open for online ordering only (for pickup). This is unfortunately the new reality for restaurant and other business operators and we will not be alone. Most importantly, we will continue to monitor this situation with our valued team members and do all we can to ensure their full recovery. Thank you for your concern and understanding.
