Yesterday, Officer Jimenez helping expedite the opening of SR-129 after a 3 vehicle, minor injury traffic collision. One of the involved parties related they were distracted trying to reach for a water bottle on their floor board. Driving is a complex task, requiring a motorist’s full attention. Anything that diverts the driver’s eyes or attention from the roadway, even for 1-2 seconds, could result in tragedy. The bottom line, whatever the distraction, It’s Not Worth It! A...lso, if you’re driving in fog, rain or snow, keep headlights on low beam, don’t stop on the roadway (except in emergency), move away from stalled or disabled vehicles and watch for CHP vehicles which may be escorting and guiding traffic through inclement weather. If you’re uncomfortable or nervous about the conditions, consider exiting the roadway and finding someplace safe to wait for better weather and a better opportunity. See more
