You know that feeling when your favorite team is in the championship game and they lose, so you go to bed because you are in shock and sad, then you wake up and realize it actually happened? That's how we feel today. Fleet Operations has been building Crown Vics since 1984, that's older than some of our Automotive Technicians! Though the department has had different vehicle models over our decades of service, the Crown Vic seems to be the most iconic. You have been good to u...s and your presence will be missed across the state. Man, 2020 has been brutal! End of Service 9/1/2020
California is known to have five seasons, fall, winter, spring, summer, and fire. Of course this year, we are getting hit hard by the fire season and it is just starting. California we've got you covered, our flight line vehicles are ready for you! California residents, CHP is out to serve and protect you even during these times of devastation. 2020, can we just breakup now?
Please and thank you!
With the unusually winter like weather the past few days, it appears some Polar Bears decided to show up on the equipping line at Fleet Operations Section.

We understand this Covid-19 SIP directive is effecting everyone and has changed up normal business practices everywhere. Please know that we are still building new vehicles and taking over-mileage vehicles off the road. Once the SIP is lifted we will reopen up weekly vehicle auctions and you can spend your stimulus money here.
Coming soon! New homes for our pups!
Our Torrance location is holding a fleet auction that runs from Tuesday 1/28/20 through Tuesday 2/3/20. Below are photos of the vehicles that are up for auction. For more information on the vehicles you can call our 24 hour auction recording number at (310) 538-0469 or (424) 551-4100 to speak with someone about the vehicles during our normal business hours. The vehicles are located at 19800 Hamilton Avenue in Torrance.
Interested in a career with the CHP as an Automotive Technician? Apply today for the Automotive Technician II exam. Each position within the state first requires you to become list eligible by either taking an exam or passing an assessment. The Automotive Technician II exam is only given once every two years and sometimes sooner if the list goes quickly. So even if you are on the fence about changing careers, take the exam so that the opportunity is there for you! The end of the year retirement wave just hit and Fleet Operations has quite a few openings. This exam is also good for any Automotive Technician II position at Division and Area offices across the state. We hope to see your application! https://jobs.ca.gov/CalHrPublic/Exams/Bulletin.aspx

Although we are known for our sunshine and warm weather, California also experiences major winter weather conditions. Here are some tips to keep your vehicle safe and ready for winter weather: TIRES Check your tire pressure (usually between 30-35 psi). Check tire tread depth to ensure sufficient tread. Check your spare tire to ensure it is also properly inflated.... Check your wheel alignment. Consider having your brakes inspected. BATTERY Visually inspect your battery terminals to ensure they are clean. Consider testing your battery for charge and capacity (typical battery life cycle is about 4-6 years). Check your brake lights, emergency flashers, and headlights. Check your windshield wipers and replace them if worn. Consider waxing your vehicle, this helps protect your paint from mud, snow, salt, and other debris kicked up in winter driving. Check your fluid levels. Ensure you have sufficient coolant, wiper fluid and oil. Check your heater and defroster to ensure they are working properly. Replace dirty fuel and air filters. Keep your gas tank filled. Keep your vehicle equipped with an ice scraper, jumper cables, gloves, flashlight, blankets, and non-perishable snacks. Photo credit: CHP - Truckee and CHP - Capistrano
Thank you CHP - Castro Valley for posting this heartwarming story. In the future, CHP - Fleet Operations will attempt to be more cognizant of a motor officer's feelings by having our staff attend O.M.S.S.T. Officer/Motor Separation Sensitivity Training. Additionally, staff will ensure all chrome ornamentation is polished to a mirror like finish prior to the new bike being provided to the officer. We understand this can be a difficult time, but we appreciate you bringing Gertrude back home after all these years. She will be well cared for while she is here and who knows, if the stars align, the officer could see her once again (minus the lights/siren). #MotorsHaveFeelingsToo #CHPMotors #CHPVehicleSales #CHP375
