It's really hard to take what we do and condense it down- but this does a pretty good job! Video content provided by team members Greg Brentin, Jerry Fernholz and Patrick Emerson. Video produced by Patrick Emerson.
The service that the Ventura County Sheriff Search and Rescue Aviation/Medical Team provides to the citizens and visitors in Ventura County is invaluable. We are proud to call them our colleagues.
Happening now! Drive through Trick or Treat! Put the kiddos in the car and come on over to the Thousand Oaks Police Department and say hi
Take a look at this beast! Perfect for #throwbackthursday. It's a 1956 Dodge Power Wagon complete with a real spinning air siren and fiberglass "Ferno" litter mounted on the top and NO seat belts inside! The team used this from about 1979 - the mid 80's and it was affectionately called "Old Yeller" before it was painted white. Photo Credits: Paul Raab

Tools of the Trade Tuesday - Radio Repeaters! Repeaters are a huge asset in the SAR toolbox. Due to the mountainous and remote locations that we work in, we rely heavily on these repeaters for our radio communications. For those who don't know - a repeater is both a receiver and a transmitter, it receives a signal and then retransmits it, which then allows two way radio signals to cover a longer distance. We have our own repeater in the local mountains and today it rece...ived some much needed TLC which included brush clearance, a new battery and a new panel. Since it is located in a remote location it took a helicopter ride to get the personnel and parts up there. Shout out to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office and the Ventura County Sheriff Search and Rescue Aviation/Medical Team for the assist in getting our repeater all fixed up, we appreciate it!!! #teamworkmakesthedreamwork Photo Credit: Frank Dikken
On September 14th a Mutual Aid call went out for help in searching for missing people in Butte County after the #northcomplexfire. We had 3 team members respond to the area on September 18th and they came home on September 21st. After they were back, we got a call of a vehicle 200 feet down the side of the road in Moorpark. We had team members on scene in about 15 minutes, 8 hours later we were finished with our assignment. Spotted during our operation - Black Diamond harnesses given to the SAR teams courtesy of the Ventura County Sheriff's Foundation and their amazing donors! Thank you for keeping us safe! #volunteers #proudtoserveourcommunity #proudtoserveourstate Photo credits: Krista Franchi and Deputy Chris Dyer
As the sun sets tonight we are still looking for Ms. DeLara, utilizing all available resources. We have personnel searching the area on foot, with K-9's and on horseback. In addition, we have our helicopters and drones searching for her from above and deputies driving the area as well. We continue to ask you to call the Ventura County Sheriff's Office at 805-654-9511 if you have seen her or have any information regarding her whereabouts.
While some team members are in Butte County supporting the operations at the #northcomplexfire the rest of the team is on scene in Fillmore searching for Ms. DeLara. Please call 805-654-9511 if you have seen her. #mutualaid #soothersmaylive #missingperson
