Currently, Chino Airport is experiencing a water shut-off controlled by the City of Chino. This shutdown was expected to only affect the Fire Suppression systems of tenant buildings along Merrill Avenue, however unknown issues occurred and the entire eastern portion of Chino Airport was affected. The City is notifying CNO Administration that water will be restored by 9:30 a.m., or shortly thereafter. Please feel free to contact Adrianna Ortiz, Airport Planner, at (909) 465-5205 or [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns

FOLLOW UP STATEMENT ON NOISE REVERBERATION: After the San Bernardino County Department of Airports received recent noise complaints by several residents near Chino Hills State Park, a 747 cargo carrier at Chino Airport (CNO) has agreed to alter its departure flight path from west to east, over an industrial area to mitigate aircraft reverberation in the surrounding area. During this time of year, the CNO serves as a transport location for the automobile industry. Freight mov...ers use CNO for just-in-time (JIT) inventory system deliveries for Detroit automakers and have done so for the past seven years. There is no time restriction on airport use. The cargo carrier noted that due to COVID-19 they have had to reduce the amount of flights to minimize crew exposure and as a result have increased fuel and cargo capacity on each flight, said San Bernardino County Director of Airports James Jenkins. By this change in the flight path, residents should not be as affected by these aircraft departures. Several residents in the vicinity of Chino Hills State Park reported unusual sound and vibration associated with a fully loaded 727 cargo plane that departed Chino Airport (CNO) early Thursday morning, Oct. 15 at 1:25 a.m. For more information please email [email protected] or call (909) 465-5201.

STATEMENT - Several residents in the vicinity of Chino Hills State Park reported unusual sound and vibration associated with a fully loaded 727 cargo plane that departed Chino Airport (CNO) early Thursday morning, Oct. 15, 2020 at 1:25 a.m. The San Bernardino County Department of Airports is reaching out to residents who complained about the disturbance. I have spoken to several residents about this and all were appreciative for the contact and were primarily concerned the ...aircraft was in distress or that they may have been in some kind of danger, said San Bernardino County Director of Airports James Jenkins. During this time of year, Chino Airport (CNO) serves as a transport location for the automobile industry. Freight movers use CNO for just-in-time (JIT) inventory system deliveries for Detroit automakers and have done so for the past seven years. There are no restrictions imposed on time of airport use and this aircraft was authorized to use CNO. Cloud cover may have been a contributing factor to the sound magnification reverberating over the hillside, Jenkins said. More information will be made available if the cause is determined to be unrelated to the 727 cargo plane. For more information please email [email protected] or call (909) 465-5201.

Young Eagles is all about pilots sharing the thrills of aviation with today's youth, and Chino Airport is where it's at. The flying is free, the only cost is for lunch, and the experience is potentially life changing! Highly recommended.
