As a Danzan Ryu Jujitsu colleague recently posted, our training is about character development. My understanding is that personal mastery (of which character development is a part) is our aim. Whichever way you look at it, we must continue to train...

My students, colleagues, and I have been determined to train together, albeit virtually, these last 4 months even as our dojo doors remain closed. Because of these folks and many of our martial and healing arts colleagues, friends, and family both past and present, Chico Kodenkan has been able to pay our bills/rent through this month. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH! But, I humbly ask for your continued support. We are a volunteer-run, martial and healing arts acad...emy, and our students and extended dojo Ohana are paying dues and making donations which is what has brought us this far. We were and are prepared to open up when it becomes viable to do. Meanwhile, we are running four virtual classes a week in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu and Weapons (Iaido & Jo) for our continuing students. One need only use enough force to perform the technique effectively

Chico Kodenkan will remain closed through the end of May. We will be following state/county guidelines for classes when we reopen. (Sanitation, distancing, etc). We will potentially open with a 2-day a week weapons class (Iaido and Jo) as these are most easily adapted for physical distancing and independent practice space. As always at Chico Kodenkan, our students' health and safety come first. ... Stay tuned for updates!
