This looks like a great group for parents of teens, who need support more than ever during pandemic times. Adolescent Parenting Group *now forming* If adolescence is the most turbulent time of childhood, then it is surely the most turbulent time of parenting. The teenage years are marked by rapid changes in physical and emotional development and increased risk for nearly everything. It requires that parents evolve and change in deep ways, while maintaining a solid foundatio...n of love, skill and perseverance. This weekly group will offers members support in adapting to the challenges of adolescent parenting. It will offer a space to explore deeper issues and better understand the dynamics of parenting during the teenage years. The group will cover a wide range of topics based on members’ interests, including family relationships, school, friendships, self-esteem, identity, technology, sexuality, drugs, college and serious mental health issues. It will be limited to 8 participants to allow for intimate conversation and the building of trust among members. The group will start in January, every Wed evening from 7pm-8:15pm and will meet online. The cost is $40 per session and reduced fees are available. For information, contact Lawrence Shweky, LCSW at 530-304-8030 or [email protected]. HUG ALERT! Affectionate touch is how our biological systems communicate to one another that we are safe, that we are loved, and that we are not alone. This is a great article that gives instruction on how to hug in these COVID times. This pandemic has made unmistakably evident our need for physical touch. Hopefully we are safely and slowly moving towards more hugs... https://www.nytimes.com//coronavirus-pandemic-hug-mask.htm

Tele-therapy is available to you! As the country moves toward re-opening in varying degrees, many will still choose to be sheltering in place, or at least will be for much of the time. If you or someone you know is needing support by tele-therapy, I am available for sessions and can work with you anywhere, that's the beauty of tele-therapy. Issues people have been faced with lately include feelings of isolation, anxiety, relationship challenges brought more to the surface th...rough SIP, loss, and the big question of how to be with the Unknown, which all of us are faced with right now. I can offer you a series of short-term, more pin-pointed sessions focused on a specific area of concern, or open-ended, ongoing work for as long as is needed. Even though I am not meeting with clients in person, I have been able to continue using somatic, or body-oriented tools and techniques, which can help you go beyond what talk therapy can do. I offer a free phone consultation, feel free to call and see if we may be a good fit. You can also learn more about my work at www.embodiedbeing.net Wishing you good health and good spirits.
