Happy International Transgender Day of Visibility. Founded in 2009 by Rachel Crandall, a Michigan-based transgender activist and the Executive Director of Transgender Michigan. It was started as a day of awareness to celebrate the successes of transgender and gender-nonconforming people and is an important day for the LGBTQ community.

YOUR GENEROUS DONATION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED The Tehama County Animal Care Center (Animal Shelter) is in need of dog beds. The Kuranda units acquired a ...few years ago are showing serious signs of becoming unusable. When acquired, PVC units were purchased to provide for all the kennels. These can be (and have been) chewed to the point of destruction by the dogs. If anyone would really like to donate to the shelter, the bed needs are posted at https://shelterbeds.org/index.php Those showing on this ‘wanted’ site are the aluminum beds, which will last a great deal longer than the PVC ones. The volunteers are doing what they can to keep the old ones serviceable, but the shelter could sure use some help and with the cold weather, the dogs would really appreciate it. Thank you #tehamacounty #animalshelter #donationsneeded #animalsinneed #shelterdog #tehamaanimalcarecenter #tehamatogether

Don't forget to vote! Vote for Caring Choices! Winner gets $1,000! This photo shows the hard work and dedication our Disaster Case Managers provide survivors.... Survivor has overcame a lot of hardships and adversity. He had been homeless since being displaced from the campfire and was living in his vehicle since then. He has a physical disability and is in need of surgery and without stable housing, he could not get the care he needs. Survivor’s long-term plan is to relocate eventually. By providing survivor the access to the RV, his goals of stable and secure housing, getting proper care for injury, and being able to relocate have been met. Survivor also experienced challenges with vision. This made everything a bit more challenging to get things done. He needed assistance with getting prescription glasses that would meet this need. With the collaboration of survivor and other outside organizations, he met his unmet needs. Photo taken with permission from survivor. Caring Choices has started a new program called Community Shelter Team to ensure that unsheltered people in our community have access to safe, clean, and well-managed sheltering facilities with readily available social services. We are fundraising to provide 3 micro shelters and wrap around services. With priority placement given to Camp Fire survivors. These micro shelters would serve as transitional housing while we work to ensure permanent long term housing for residents. Click here to donate! https://bit.ly/34zr9Ss

Today we Celebrate Ryan White on what would have been his 49th Birthday! Ryan White was diagnosed with AIDS at age 13, following a blood transfusion, and was given six months to live. He went on to live five more years, fighting for his right to attend school and gaining international attention as a voice of reason about HIV/AIDS. Ryan died one month before his high school graduation and only months before Congress passed the legislation bearing his name in August 1990 - the... Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act, now known as the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program provides a comprehensive system of HIV primary medical care, essential support services, and medications for low-income people living with HIV who are uninsured and underserved. The Program funds grants to states, cities/counties, and local community-based organizations to provide care and treatment services to people living with HIV to improve health outcomes and reduce HIV transmission among hard-to-reach populations. More than half of people living with diagnosed HIV in the United States receive services through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program each year. Caring Choices offers many services through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program in 8 counties in Northern California. You can call our office at 530.899.3873 or 211 to learn more about the HIV/AIDS services we offer. Happy Birthday, Ryan!

Art remains one of the loudest and committed voices in the arena of AIDS prevention and awareness, most powerfully so during the early years of coming to understand the AIDS epidemic. When a creator places an issue beneath an artistic lens, we’re invited to experience the kind of beauty and resilience that can grow from painful circumstances, and we’re forced to talk about how those circumstances occurred in the first place. While there are so many powerful artists who have h...elped and continue to bring national and global attention to the need for AIDS research, treatment, and prevention, we want to highlight the profound impact that NY graffiti artist Keith Haring has had with his work. Haring (who later passed from complications of AIDS) developed an instantly recognizable style that became synonymous with the cause. He used his work to advocate for safe sex, and the LGBT community, and upon his death, the Keith Haring Foundation was opened. This foundation provides funding and imagery to AIDS organizations and children's programs and continues to work to educate at-risk youth and the public on HIV and AIDS prevention.
