The Montebello Police Department wants everyone to stay safe and healthy this Halloween. So we’re doing our part by going on Pumpkin Patrol this year! On Hallo...ween evening, officers on patrol will look for a Pumpkin Patrol poster on your car, apartment, or house window so make sure it can be seen! Kids and families can download and print the official Pumpkin Patrol poster by going here --> https://cityofmontebello.com/head//857-pumpkin-patrol.html. Color your pumpkin in unique ways and tape it on a window facing the street. On October 31 from 3 p.m. 9 p.m. Montebello Police Officers will be on patrol for these pumpkins while they’re out keeping everyone safe. If they see yours, officers will leave behind a Halloween Pumpkin Patrol goodie bag for you. Officers will be on the lookout for as many Pumpkin Patrol posters as possible. Participants are encouraged to tag Montebello Police (@montebellopd) in your social media posts, but please do NOT call the police department with Pumpkin Patrol requests as phone lines must remain available for emergencies and requests for police services only. The use of illegal fireworks anytime, and now leading up to the July 4th holiday, are causing a tremendous strain on our community’s safety, peace, and wellbein...g. Every time an illegal firework is set off there is a potential for personal injury, property damage, and just as concerning disturbs everyone around, including our pets. Don’t be that person! If you see that person, report him or her to the Montebello Police Department at (323) 887-1313. The only fireworks that are permitted in the City of Montebello are Safe & Sane fireworks and ONLY on July 4th. Dangerous fireworks include rockets, aerial missiles, mortars, spinners, roman candles and are not considered Safe & Sane and are illegal! The use of illegal fireworks will get you fined up to $1,000 and / or arrested. Look for the Safe and Sane seal on any fireworks you intend to purchase. There are several vendors from non-profit organizations selling legal fireworks in Montebello. All of these vendors have been inspected by the Montebello Fire Department. Remember; any firework can be dangerous if not used properly. Recent years have resulted in several firework-related fires, severe personal injury, significant property damage, and deaths of animals in the community. Please remember the following tips so we can all Celebrate Safely this 4th of July. Never use illegal fireworks Never allow young children to handle fireworks Older children should use them only under close adult supervision Never use fireworks while impaired by drugs or alcohol Keep a bucket of water nearby to fully extinguish fireworks that don't go off or in case of fire Anyone using fireworks or standing nearby should wear protective eyewear Never hold lighted fireworks in your hands Never light them indoors Only use them away from people, houses and flammable material Never point or throw fireworks at another person Only light one device at a time and maintain a safe distance after lighting Do not try to re-light or handle malfunctioning fireworks Soak both spent and unused fireworks in water for a few hours before discarding

In order to encourage and support our residents who are working from home, self-isolating at home and to encourage the social distancing recommended to slow the... spread of the COVID-19, the Montebello Police Department will temporarily suspend the enforcement of street sweeping violations. This will be effective immediately (March 18, 2020) and ample notification will be made prior to our enforcement activities resuming. During these unprecedented times and especially since street sweeping will not be enforced, we encourage all residents to do their part to keep our community clean. All other parking violations, specifically those that cause a public hazard will continue to be enforced.
