After decades of resistance and recent weeks of Black Lives Matter protests, the Minneapolis City Council majority announced yesterday that they would support disbanding their police department. Here’s what that means and what it could look like. #blacklivesmatter

#Repost @battymamzelle with @make_repost Yesterday, after three full days of work on #BirthdayForBreonna, I finally found some time to sit and write my birthday card for her. My family got involved and even my little cousin signed her name to her dad's card. This effort has ballooned into something I could never have imagined or hoped for. The work I put in and the work you all put in with me has been incredible to behold. So many of you sent beautiful cards and letters a...nd postcards and you donated and you signed and you made this story big enough that I spent most of yesterday giving interviews. Seeing this project go so, immensely viral had given me a new hope that perhaps we can value black women, even though we shouldn't need so much prompting. I hope that with all the time and effort and money that so many hundreds of you put in, we can finally get #JusticeForBreonna. Happy birthday Breonna. You should have been here to celebrate #SayHerName : @aylasydney and @_afrodiziak

Support Black-led LGBTQI+ organizations this Pride Month! Never forget that Black Queers and Trans people started the modern-day LGBTQI+ movement through a rebellion against police violence, not a parade! #blacklivesmatter #pridemonth

A week of action in lieu of blackout non-action.

California Walks 06.10.2020

All the protests happening this week in the US and worldwide show the urgency of dismantling white supremacy in all its forms and the cost Black people have always had to pay for the survival of it. Racism is a public health issue. We need to be specific in our language and actions so that we as non-Black people, don’t continue to evade responsibility for unwittingly upholding it or perpetuating it in our work. Non-Black People of Color have always benefited from the ...gains Black people have made in the process of their own liberation. We need to use our full senses NOW to support, uplift, help fund, and center Black lives, organizations, artists, and thinkers. Their lives literally depend on our collective actions towards dismantling racism in our subconscious, organizations, agencies, and systems. Long live Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, Tony McDade and the thousands of others killed by racism. #blacklivesmatter #saytheirnames See more

As we move into our 9th week of the stay at home order, we reflect on all the changes and adjustments we’ve endured and overcome in our personal lives and at work. Times likes these can be overwhelming but, having such a great work team to support makes it a bit more manageable. As a team we’ve made space for as much joy as possible by sharing our personal projects, our inner chefs, and our tik tok dance challenges In the spirit of sharing joy, we’re sharing some of ou...r favorite action moments of the past year. We’d like to thank our team not only for their thoughtfulness and flexibility in adjusting our work, but also for the care they put into each other. We appreciate you. #staffappreciation #joy #quarentinereflections #activetransportation #bikemonth See more

Complete Streets for the Win! During yesterday's California Transportation Committee (CTC) meeting, the 2020 State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) was adopted, which included a proposed reserve of $100 million for complete streets elements to SHOPP projects. Our team, along with local and state partners have been pressuring transportation decision makers to advance and financially support complete streets policies that have been in place for over a de...cade. We have worked tirelessly to engage local and state partners in the discussion, and our partners did not disappoint! There were a number of advocates who attended the meeting and provided written and verbal comments in support of the plan.
