Unlike Original Medicare, Medicare Part C and Part D are administered, marketed, and sold by private insurance companies. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has guidelines for marketing Medicare Part C and Part D insurance that protect beneficiaries from manipulative and deceptive sales and enrollment tactics. Learn more about what plans and agents can and cannot do below. Also, you can report any suspected fraud to our CA Senior Medicare Patrol #CASMP at 1-800-613-7080. https://cahealthadvocates.org/medicare-open-enrollment-is-/

Voting ballots for Nov. 3rd's election are already coming in. If you haven't received your ballot yet, it will arrive soon. And now there are ways you can track your ballot to make sure your vote gets delivered and counted. Dozens of states allow you to do this. With the help of the U.S. Postal Service, states send ballot envelopes with a unique set of numbers for each individual voter. Those numbers are often known as Intelligent Mail Barcodes, which allow the Postal Servi...ce to track the ballot. Those numbers also enable states to use ballot-tracking websites. In California, you can sign up for "Where’s My Ballot? to receive alerts by email, text message or automated telephone calls that will update you on the status of your ballot. You can sign up for the tracking tool at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov, and will need to enter in your name, birthday and ZIP code. More info: http://ow.ly/VWKA50BUYKA

Voters, Beware: Fake Drop Boxes Are Out There California’s attorney general and chief elections officer on Monday sent a cease-and-desist letter to Republican Party officials demanding that they immediately stop using private and possibly illegal ballot collection containers marked as official drop boxes. The real boxes, which are offered in every county, are being used to reduce the spread of COVID-19 during voting. https://www.latimes.com//california-gop-republicans-under-

Join us for an educational webinar Elder Justice for Medicare Beneficiaries ~ Why Is It Harder to Access Quality Care? Learn About Barriers & Remedies October 20, 2020 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. PDT... Why are Medicare beneficiaries finding it harder to access quality health care even though Medicare benefits and coverage have remained relatively unchanged in recent years? In this webinar, our California Senior Medicare Patrol Director, Micki Nozaki, along with California Elder Justice Coalition's Executive Director, Lisa Nerenberg, will examine barriers to access, their causes, potential remedies, and the role of State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIPs) in helping beneficiaries understand their rights and benefits. (California's SHIP is called HICAP, or the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program.) The session will further describe Medicare fraud and the harm it poses to beneficiaries, communities, and the public. Register here: https://us02web.zoom.us//register/WN__ZIR-5c1QNqdWbM73c5AdQ
