CADA staff wants you to know that CADA is here for you during these trying times because even though our doors are closed, our services are still available. As this Pandemic continues more people than ever before are struggling with addiction and mental health concerns. With isolation, lost jobs and financial hardships, along with the pandemic’s uncertain duration, CADA is witnessing and addressing the toll this is taking on many people in our community. CADA is offering co...unseling services via phone and video conferencing from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. to accommodate the increased need for our services. We have increased the mental health component of our integrated treatment services to address the anxiety that is coming up for our clients. We are helping clients in recovery connect with their recovery support systems, like 12-step meetings, via Zoom, sometimes attending with them to help them become comfortable with this new environment, especially older clients who may not be used to this technology, or who lack smart phones or other devices. Therapists from the Daniel Bryant Youth and Family Center are checking in regularly with the parents of teens in currently in treatment to offer support, and welcome any parent to contact us for help during this challenging time. Therapists are collaborating with school staff to support students in online learning by teaching them how to use Zoom, making sure they have the technology and tools they need, monitoring their attendance at online classes, and providing motivational incentives for their participation. Our residential treatment center remains open, following safety protocols for COVID-19, to provide a safe environment for supervised withdrawal from alcohol and drugs and residential treatment for up to 90 days. CADA’s staff are trained substance abuse and mental health professionals who have the skills to help people cope with challenges to their recovery presented by this crisis, but more importantly, many have the lived experience of being in recovery themselves. They are in a unique position to offer the comfort, safety, and trust that is needed to help our clients weather this storm. Spread the word about CADA's services. As people stay home to help slow the spread of COVID-19, we are seeing another crisis emerge. More people than ever before are struggling with addiction and mental health concerns. With isolation, lost jobs and financial hardships, along with the pandemic’s uncertain duration, CADA is witnessing and addressing the toll this is taking on many people in our community. For people most susceptible to addiction and mental health issues, this might be the most challenging time of t...heir lives. One of CADA's former board members says, "I have been sober for 25 years, and this has been the most difficult time I have ever faced in my recovery." Please support CADA on Giving Tuesday. Together we heal. You can help by: Donating to CADA's COVID-19 Emergency Fund. Your donation will be matched dollar for dollar thanks to a $10,000 matching gift challenge from a generous donor, Earl Minnis. To donate https://cadasb.org/donate/ Donating items to support our clients. We are giving $10 gift cards for essential items like food and clothing as incentives to youth to motivate them to participate in online classes and treatment sessions during a time when many of their families are struggling financially. We also need earbuds and headphones for our clients who don't have them so that they can participate in telehealth sessions more privately while at home. If you can donate any of these items, please DM us and we will get you in contact with Michelle Kerwood, Director of our Child and Adolescent Treatment Programs. To Our Valued Supporters: What we are currently experiencing with the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic is causing our entire community, including CADA, to identify alternative ways to continue providing vital services during this unprecedented crisis. In response to Governor Newsom’s order to shelter in place, CADA offices have temporarily closed. While we are no longer meeting with clients face-to-face, our important work continues. Until further notice, we are providing our co...unseling and other treatment services to current and new clients through telephone contact, conference calls, and video conferencing. Our staff are diligently reaching out to all clients on a regular basis to help them through this uncertain time, which can be especially stressful for those in recovery. We are making every effort to deliver the same quantity and quality of care that have been CADA’s hallmark for more than 70 years. A full update on the delivery of our services during the COVID-19 crisis is posted on the home page of our website, https://cadasb.org/covid-19-services-update/ . Please spread the word that CADA continues to serve the teens, adults and families in our community who are struggling with substance abuse. We are doing everything we can to help our clients remain on a positive path as we all prepare for better days ahead. #Repost @thisispattismith Santa Barbara, California This is... a small report by the sea. This morning I saw the sun rise and a school of dolphins filing very close by. I watched in wonder as they leapt and played then went on their way. I was too enthralled, to take a picture. Last night Tony Shanahan and I performed in Santa Barbara at a singular benefit for CADA, providing substance abuse prevention. The night before I saw two beloved Gene Tierny movies, Laura and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. I have not forgotten all the world’s problems these last couple days, just took a small break. Tv, the sea and dolphins. Back to work in a few hours, happy to be of service and for small pleasures. See more
