Neighbors, We are still here working every angle to deliver Broadway Parque to you. On what the future holds, the best I can tell you is we have the numbers (over 90% neighbor support) and good community planning principals on our side. We just have to be persistent. There's a few more opportunities you can participate, outlined below. ... 10/14, 10am, online or City Hall Council Chambers Fresno City Council budget hearing, PARCS budget hearing. Agenda: https://fresno.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx What to say/ask: Give a 2-3 minute comment on PARCS budget. You have been one of over 500 neighbors who have participated in and share a vision for Broadway Parque on public land at Broadway & Elizabeth. The plan we've provided the City of Fresno has Lowell CDC as development lead with construction complete October 2022. So we're not asking for inclusion in PARCS maintenance budget until two more budget years. We ask the City to allow our grassroots park coalition to continue our grant writing for State and foundation capital. City should plan to add maintenance dollars ($40,000/year) in the future budget (FY 2023). Our neighborhood deserves a park and we won't stop working to make it happen. Make it personal. 10/24 4pm-7pm, sidewalks along Broadway & Elizabeth Park or Treat https://www.facebook.com/events/258593772214503/ Activities: We're doing a postcard campaign. We'll have several distanced tables with postcard writing/coloring stations, bring your pods and do some cards. Costumes encouraged. We'll sanitize tables and pens between uses. We have about 25 locally made art yards signs to give away, see photo attached. We'll probably think of a few other October surprises. If you're a musician bring an instrument. Bring your full self, but bring your masks too, and keep respectful distance. *The City put up "no trespassing" signs around the property, so we're keeping our activities to the sidewalk this time around.
