Second shot down. Protected and protecting! Reopening for private in-person Pilates soon. Can’t wait. Stay tuned for updates.

So excited to be getting closer to in person Pilates! Once I’m double vaxxed I will begin to see vaccinated clients. I think it will be around May 1st.

It’s pretty simple to me as a Pilates instructor and a believer in science. It’s not safe to go to the gym. Especially to work closely with a trainer or a group class. I think you’re crazy if you’re going. Too much deep breathing! Even if you get Covid and have a mild reaction to it at this time in your life there is no telling what the long term consequences will be. They don’t know yet. And of course you might inadvertently kill your best friend or mother, or in my case my ...husband who is older. I personally will not be teaching in person for some time, but possibly outside and distanced when things mellow out. Meanwhile, I’ve been having such a sweet time teaching my clients online and am so grateful for those that have stuck with me for this journey. It’s such a crazy time and it makes our connection more meaningful, I’ve had clients for as long as 15 years and it’s extremely healing to still spend our time together, seeing their little faces on zoom. Especially the first few weeks when everyone was essentially in shock, frightened and waiting to see who might have been exposed to the virus. We’ve figured it out together and thankfully I’m still in business. I know how lucky I am to be able to transition to online teaching and stay safe and keep others safe. I’ve definitely had to deepen my Pilates mat game and teaching in general, and get reacquainted with all my props in new and creative ways. It’s been an interesting and rewarding challenge after so many years of teaching and being extremely Reformer and equipment centric. I always did mat work but when that’s all you have, you have to go deeper. I love it. In fact at the moment I prefer it. My focus has been on slowing down and deepening the exercises, learning how to better mimic the reformer on the mat with new movements and routines and working on my transitions. It feels like one seamless movement or a tumbling routine on a good day. Very focused. Some days we have high energy and others it’s clear restorative moves are in order. It’s a stressful time for everyone but our time together is a great break from the madness and negativity... certainly for me! I’m also in the process of getting certified in BARRE, so that’s been a fun addition. Hard!! You don’t need anything but a sturdy chair to do it, or a portable ballet bar if you want. I figured it would be a good addition for this new online world. I actually think I prefer a slightly slower and more gentle Barre routine so far. But I’ll have the fast paced classes as well. I just have to find music I can stand with beat of about 126 beats per minute. Any ideas? Kraftwork? Old school hip hop? Not too many vocals ... I’ve been putting the music thing off. Gotta figure it out soon. Stay safe out there people.

We are following all WHO and CDC recommendations for sanitizing all commonly touched places in the studio throughout the day, and as usual all equipment after every client. Lots of hand washing!!! One of the perks of private Pilates and a small studio is knowing your clients intimately. I even have gloves if people would like to work out with them .
