Dogs aren’t just animals; for many of us, they are members of the family unit. The American culture has always had loving relationships with their dogs. The pet industry is thriving, and for an excellent reason. Looking at how many of each type of animal pet owners share their homes with, three in five dog owners have just one (61%), while almost three in ten (28%) have two dogs and more than one in ten (11%) have three or more dogs in the house. Pets are family members with over 91% that say they consider their pet to be a member of their family and is constant among dog (94%) owners. Half of the pet owners (51%) say they frequently let their pet sleep in the bed with them. A majority of Americans see their family units as extending to their furry companions.
