Covid-19 - Assessment of How Community Pools May Be Impacted and How to Best Protect Your Community We feel it is our responsibility at Best Pool Service to be ...a strong resource how discussing how the Coronavirus May Impact your Community's Pools and what measures can be done to best protect your residents. Key Points: 1) Less Travel, More Staycations Possible greater use of Community Pools 2) The CDC has stated that: Effectively sanitized water at current regulatory levels should inactivate Coronavirus. This may increase the Community’s desire for automated chemical controllers or more weekly service as well as resolving any filter or pump/circulation issues right away. 3) Best Pool Service Internal Preparation Plan: Employees have been instructed to stay at home if they are ill. We have overstaffed our Company in preparation of potential sick leave No one knows how long the coronavirus will be here, nor how severe the repercussions will be. There are many uncertainties. - One certainty is the fact that the travel industry is taking a major hit as people are traveling much less. And when people are traveling less, this generally means one thing: More staycations. - What is a staycation? A staycation is when an individual or family, instead of spending their discretionary income on travel, flights or cruises, spends vacation time at the HOA or apartment complex. - Result: This may result in more residents of the community using shared luxury resources, including Community Pools The CDC has released guidance on COVID-19 and water transmission, including information on recreational water transmission. We encourage you to share this information with your organizations and others who may have questions about COVID-19 spreading through water. Specifically, the CDC guidance states: There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19. This guidance and other water-related guidance can be found at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/water.html. What to Do: - Communities that have automated chemical controllers should have continuous properly-sanitized water. If a community doesn’t have an automatic controller, an investment in automated equipment or more frequent service visits per week can ensure that the water chemistry is optimally sanitized - Check that all pool equipment is working properly and do not delay repairs. Proper circulation (pumps), filtration (filters), and sanitization are required to effectively kill pathogens in water Best Pool Service has taken several steps to prepare for this time 1) Best Pool Service has encouraged all employees that experience symptoms to stay home 2) The Company has staffed up greater than needed to accommodate for technicians that need sick leave 3) Employees instructed to regular and thorough washing of hands 4) In addition, almost 100% of the employees have elected to take medical insurance coverage through our many Company-sponsored plans, so they can get medical assistance if needed.
