Did you know? Prior to the development of the 1970 Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA), fall protection was largely unsupervised and employers were rarely held responsible for injuries resulting from a fall hazard. It wasn't until the 70s/80s that OSHA began to implement and carry out fall protection measures for industries like mining, manufacturing, and construction. OSHA directed surprise investigations of workplace safety measures, and failure to comply with those standards resulted in heavy fines for employers.
