Photographing families is it for me. It is fun and completely unpredictable. Friends becoming clients and clients becoming friends is an added bonus. Feeling all the thankful vibes.

Pausing today and thinking about how incredibly lucky I am that I have strong, intelligent and kind women all around. The women in my circle are an example of strength. They stand up for what is right, have vision and ideas, and take no bull. Ain’t no time for insecurities and self doubt when we raising families, becoming masters in our craft, and literally keeping all the crap together. Happy women’s day. You guys are it.

It’s hard to grasp it from one photo but when you receive images from a session, it is more like a little story of moments about your family. At home sessions make it more special, you should try one.

I love when people say they aren’t photogenic. I’ve shot hundreds of families at this point and no one comes to mind that I have mentally labeled unphotogenic. Everyone should step in front of a camera. You deserve to see the version of yourself that everyone else sees. And that version doesn’t really include any of the flaws that you think exist. I think most people are too busy worried about their own make believe flaws to be bothered by someone else’s. So what is the point of worrying about your flaws or labeling yourself unphotogenic? There is no point. Complete waste of time. This is just something photography taught me. Let’s waste zero moments worrying about insecurities that zero people notice or care about.

Please invite me to all your places. The weirder the better. You have somewhere that is special? A place that has meaning? Let’s go there. Special places I have photographed at includes but is not limited to carrot fields, ice cream parlors, street corners, and places where you met. Let’s go to the places that mean something.

Hello! I’m Ally! And I’m coming to you with 3 bits of happy nonsense. 1. My husband, Jayson, and I got some kid free time last night for a park picnic double date situation and it was such a relaxing way to end the weekend. 2. My sons both ask to come on every photoshoot I do. Last week, I made up an arbitrary age in which they would be old enough to assist me. Does 9 sound right? 3. I thought that our recent travels to AZ and Joshua Tree National Park would have fulfil...led my need for adventure but it only made me want to go to more places and do more things. Camping, anyone? My Saturday snuggles are gonna have to wait a few hours! I’m off to a morning photoshoot! Today’s family has literally had to wait for 6 month because we kept rescheduling the March photoshoot due to Covid and now I finally get to meet them! Really looking forward to it!

October is like a marathon for photographers. The goal is to not stop until it is over. Just keep moving forward, even if we are taking the tiniest little steps toward the finish line. Don’t judge the amount of coffee I’m drinking and how little sleep I’m getting. It’s just the way October is. And maybe November.

I’m a mom to two little boys and I’m married to Jayson, who I met when I was 16. I’m a Jesus follower and am really struggling with how I DON’T fit in with the American Church in today’s political climate - or maybe I’m struggling with how the American Church is missing what I believe would actually be important to Jesus. My family and my friend...s are literally the most important thing to me. I’m ALMOST a minimalist and have prob given away close to half my things in the past 2 years AND I’m not done yet. I always have a donation pile. I love camping and coffee and adventures and being outside. I’m a number 7 on the enneagram and am mostly likely down for a day trip at any given moment.
