Cold, mass, volume, blind, unsolicited marketing (aka SPAM) is outdated and is a sign of bad manners. How do I know? Check your inbox, mailbox, and on occasion, your front door when someone is trying to sell you something. How do you feel? Is it positive or negative? So, if you don't like it being done to you, don't do it. Simply put, it turns off potential buyers. There are other ways to convert strangers friends customers advocates. Let me know your thoughts. What are... the alternatives? There are a few. Prospecting or relationship marketing is where you are more surgical with your outreach. You've identified a target, qualified the buyer, and have determined a need. The other alternative is permission marketing or opt-in marketing. The buyer is choosing to engage with you in exchange for something they consider valuable. This could be a marketing report, trend prediction, web analysis, white-paper, e-book, mini-course, etc Give value. Be generous. With each interaction, the buyer moves up the ladder towards giving you permission to ask for a sale. #marketing #leadgeneration #prospecting #socialprospecting #sales #permissionmarketing #leadgen #bizdevelopment

Visual diagram of SWOT as it applies to what many of us are facing. An unforeseen threat (or competitor) disrupts the market and therefore our business, revealing our weaknesses and vulnerabilities. If you keep pushing, this period of retreat could lead to unexpected opportunity.
