The Birth Center has received (for the second year in a row) Triple Aim Best Practice designation from the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). This is called a bilobed placenta. Look closely at the center between the 2 lobes and you can see the blood vessels that bridge from one lobe to the other. The cord also doesn’t implant in either side but sends blood vessels to each lobe. It supported a baby through pregnancy and a great birth at The Birth Center. Placentas are just so amazing! .............#waterbirth #birthcenterbirth #sactobirth #pregnancy #sacramentomidwives #nursemidwives #outofhospitalbirth #birthchoices #sacramentowaterbirth #sacramentobirth #doulas #breastfeeding #birthchoicematters #goodbirth #sacramentopregnancy #sacramentobirthcenter #midwives #birthexperiencematters #birthstory #gentlebirth #safebirth #placenta @ The Birth Center

This is so cool to get to see what happens when a baby nurses. We all hear about "the latch" but now you get to see it too. The vacuum that a good latch creates is the key to successful breastfeeding. When creation of vacuum can't happen it may be due to a lip and/or tongue tie. At The Birth Center we have a 96% exclusive breastfeeding rate at 6 wk postpartum vs. hospitals with 30-40% on day 2. We can also help with correction of lip and tongue tie issues.
