Could you imagine fighting over water? In Goswami Nagar slum, the main occupation is trading old garments. Before WaterAid started work here, there was solid hu...man waste and waste-water everywhere. A lack of toilets caused the whole community to practice open defecation, and all four hand pumps were contaminated. "There has been a tremendous change," says Seema Gosain, a local resident. "Since the water pump is fixed it has become convenient for everyone. Now there are no more fights over water as there used to be. Before, I could wash about 50 items of clothing a day, but now I am able to wash 100. Our income has increased too."
