#BLM AUCTION Los Angeles furniture maker Nathaniel Brawley Hill @brawleymade built this beautiful desk on spec out of wood from a local, Los Angeles (Burbank) tree (mystery species). He asked if we would auction it off and that % of proceeds go toward supporting #blacklivesmatter As ACL is a local, Los Angeles business, we choose to support a truly special, black-owned, local Los Angeles bookstore: Eso Won Books @esowonbooks of Leimert Park, specializing in literature... that chronicles the black experience. We are a story-driven company (trees) and we love that this company is helping tell the story that the world needs to hear most right now. Eso Won will be giving proceeds to a young local man who: during the recent Juneteenth celebration here, this young man had funds for over $500.00 and gave all the books out. He works with a local agency doing it. Desk dimensions: 6’ long x 33 deep x 30.25 high BIDDING STARTS AT $500 BIDDING STARTS NOW AND ENDS WEDNESDAY, JULY 8TH, AT 5:00 PMPLEASE DM US WITH ALL BIDS% OF PROCEEDS GO TO ESO WON BOOKS #blacklivesmatter #supportblackbusiness #supportlosangeles #angelcitylumber @ Los Angeles, California

We are launching a line of Angel City Lumber wood products. Check back every week as we’ll feature one local, Los Angeles wood product. Know where your decking (or int/ext cladding) is from. We are now selling 1x6 decking available in 8’ and 12’ lengths. This decking comes from local Deodar Cedar trees (1st picture); a magical tree endemic to the Himalayas. This is paired up with Los Angeles Coast Redwood decking (2nd picture); an equally magical species native to NorCal. T...his is the local twist/variation to tried-and-true Cedar and Redwood decking material. Specifications are: surfaced true 1 thickness x true 6 width, lengths of 8’ feet or 12 feet. Pricing is $8/square foot, add $2 extra per square foot for tongue and groove or ship lap. Also available in Italian Stone Pine to-order. Please come by Angel City Lumber to pick up a sample to take home. They say you know who your friends are in hard times. Thank you to @bohnhoff_lumber for your millwork support with all that’s going on. @responsivehomes is getting some gorgeous Winnetka and Van Nuys Shamel Ash stair tread, riser, and landing stock because of it. Pretty surreal sometimes to get to work with such a great, long-standing, business in our community. #bohnhofflumber #angelcitylumber #cityoflosangeles #urbanlumber #losangeles #pacificpalisades #eucalyptus #boyleheights #timber #urbanforestry #urbanforest #citytrees #streettrees #treesoflosangeles #sustainability #sustainablelumber #recycle #upcycle #reuse #angelcity #cityofangels #designstudio #design #architecture #greenbuilding #buildingmaterials #landscapedesign #climateaction @ Bohnhoff Lumber,Co.

We want to wish a 1-day-belated Happy Birthday to our sawyer, our guy, Matt Simmons, a.k.a. Simmons. A real team player and talent, he’s the guy who transforms our fallen trees into beautiful, unique, local Los Angeles lumber. We hope you enjoyed your day. #angelcitylumber #urbanlumber #sawyer

Vincent took home an absolutely beautiful tree from Pacific Palisades today and yesterday (this is 1 of 2 loads). Thanks to @cpandsonstreeservice for amazing work and professionalism and thanks to @treecarela for the introduction. We are struck by this trees beauty and are grateful for it. We have some quality guesses as to the type of Eucalyptus that it is but they’re just guesses - please, arborist and tree nerds unite and please tell us your thoughts (swipe for bark, le...af, and fruit pics). #angelcitylumber #cityoflosangeles #urbanlumber #losangeles #pacificpalisades #eucalyptus #boyleheights #timber #urbanforestry #urbanforest #citytrees #streettrees #treesoflosangeles #sustainability #sustainablelumber #recycle #upcycle #reuse #angelcity #cityofangels #designstudio #design #architecture #greenbuilding #buildingmaterials #landscapedesign #climateaction @ Angel City Lumber See more

#TGIF and welcome back to our #streettreefriday crossover series with @treesofla. Every Friday we feature common trees of LA in both their urban tree and urban lumber forms respectively. In 2017, the Robles family (name apropos) witnessed the quick decline of their Alhambra English Oak tree due to borer beetles. A family home for generations, this tree stood there for as long as they could remember. Many a family party were held under its shade, lots of piñatas dangled from i...ts limbs over the years. They knew this tree could not end up as mulch in a roll-off container. But what? The tree’s 4+ foot diameter trunk didn’t exactly make for easy maneuverability. They took to searching for someone that might have an idea of what could be done to honor this tree in the form of wood and found these weird cats in Boyle Heights that would mill it. We are so thankful for their reverence of their English Oak as well as their ingenuity that led them to us. We were honored to mill a series of table slabs from this beauty. The Robles family, siblings, and extended family were all able to utilize slabs from the tree they were in communion for so long. The family hired the very talented and insightful @stefanelli_design to build a communal banquet table for their home; the tree will still be in attendance at all those family functions. The wood was as beautiful and nuanced as the standing tree. Nate crafted a true stunner of a table that holds within it its unique history with the family that raised it. Please visit @treesofla to see this beautiful tree when it was standing and to learn more about English Oak. It is vital that as a city, we fight to increase and protect our urban canopy and the infrastructure, clean air, and local climate change mitigation it provides. When a tree must down, though, what better way to honor the hard work it’s done for our city than by giving it a new life? #losangeles #boyleheights #timber #englishoak #alhambra #urbanforestry #urbanforest #citytrees #streettrees #treesoflosangeles #sustainability #sustainablelumber #recycle #upcycle #reuse #angelcity #cityofangels #designstudio #design #architecture #greenbuild @ Alhambra, California
