Alpha Gamma Sigma, Honor Society: Alpha Chapter 04.10.2021

How did you hear about AGS and what’s your favorite memory? What is something AGS members don’t know about you? I heard about AGS from my JAM leader, Jeff, who is on the board of AGS. Something about me that people may not know is that I value community. It is essential for me to make connections with others in all areas in my life in order to be most successful and content. The person who influences this the most is Charles Stanley. Even though I do not know him personally, I listen to his messages everyday. They encourage me, enlighten me, and remind me of what my life purpose is. My favorite memory thus far is attending the TV tapings. It’s cool seeing behind the scenes of tv shows and raising money for our club and our members all at the same time. (Arevig, Business Marketing) #AGSfeatures

How did you hear about AGS? I actually heard about AGS from my friend James Reyna and seeing it at the club fair. Both told me about how good it was for your resume and how you could visit colleges as well. After hearing that, I was all for it! My favorite moment from this AGS semester was the trip to USC. It was awesome to see the campus and be around good people that wanted to see what USC has to offer! What’s something unique about you that most people don’t know? I th...ink most people don't know about me is that I have driven to over 40 states in an old Jeep. My favorite was when I drove into the ocean in Key West. Who are the most influential people in your life and why? I would say the most influential person in my life right now are Barack Obama and Lin Manuel Miranda. I recently read their biographies and what they are doing now, even after their moment in the spotlight, its really inspiring to continue pursuing success. (Matt, Communications) See more

How did you hear about AGS and why did you decide to join? Well, it’s a funny story actually. Over summer break, there was a mobile version of a game that I used to play called Maplestory that was released. Nostalgia was calling so I had to download it. While playing the game, I made a public shoutout to Korean BBQ because you know, it’s Korean BBQ. A random person replied confessing their love for Korean BBQ so I had to be their friend. Later not only did I find out she goe...s to UCLA but she had just transferred from PCC. What a small world! We became good friends and I asked her how she felt about PCC. She said her favorite memories about Pasadena was being part of a little club called Alpha Gamma Sigma and that her good friend Shannon Slater was still in it. Then she highly encouraged me to join. Like, every day. At first, I didn’t think much of it because I didn’t have a 4.5 GPA, I was too old and I didn’t know if this Shannon person was cute. Fall Semester rolls around and clubs were getting ready for club week. I decided to take a stroll through the quad and I just so happen to stumble upon the AGS booth. I then find out that you didn’t need a 4.5 GPA and there wasn’t an age limit. I also found out that Shannon was a guy. (Cuteness is still questionable.) One thing led to another and I found myself sitting in an auditorium filled with over 200 students. From there, it’s history! What is your favorite memory with AGS? My favorite memory with AGS is definitely the Halloween Social event from start the finish. Setting up the event came with a lot of obstacles and conflicts but it brought members and even different committees together. I mean we literally came together two-three times a week because the wind kept blowing everything away. But in the end, it was still a success. I even got to supply some tunes with my DJ equipment. How did you hear about AGS? I heard about it from my friend who was in AS last year but never decided to join till this semester. It definitely helped me expand my graphic design skills and opened my introverted self to making friends. My favorite memories have been the committee meetings, I felt like I belonged in something important and everyone got along so well, it made me feel like I had a second family. What is something unique about you that most people don’t know? ...I’m an international student and graphic designer from Canada and moved here 1.5 years ago! Yay free health care! Who is the most influential person in your life right now? My mom, she is so amazing to let me move out here but also just being able to work and take care of 3 kids, I aspire to learn her ways of how she raised me (Taylor Wong, Business) #AGSfeatures
