Be the change you wish to see in the world. Speak up when you see something wrong/someone being mistreated. We have a lot to learn and a long way to go. Thank you MLK for all the important work you did and continue to do through your inspiration #mlkjrday #socialjustice #bethechange #changeagent

Hello friends! I’m so excited to finally share this project that my friend and colleague Sasha McPherson, LMFT and I have been working on for the last year. We are both moms and mental health professionals who are passionate about supporting mothers and their partners through the transition to parenthood. Preparing4Baby grew out of the passion both of us developed after not feeling fully prepared for the impact that a baby would make on our lives. Overnight, our individual id...entities, relationships with our partners, connection with friends and family, and mental health were impacted in ways we didn't expect. These massive changes had not been discussed in the many books we read or classes we both had taken to prepare ourselves for the birth of our children. And the more we spoke to other parents, the more we realized we were not alone. With the primary focus during pregnancy being on mom and baby’s physical health, anyone who has had a baby has likely been encouraged to take a birthing course or baby care readiness course. Yet few expecting parents are encouraged to explore and prepare for how having a baby may impact your mental health, individual identity, relationship with your partner, other children if you have any, connection with friends, and your overall, everyday life. Convenient and at your own pace, this video learning series was created to do just that. Our mission is to help as many new and expecting parents as we can so that they hopefully do not have to go through some of the challenges that many, including ourselves, have gone through by better Preparing4Baby. Stay tuned, like, and follow us for posts about Preparing4Baby as well as topics that are near and dear to our hearts such as perinatal mental health, relationships, parenting, and more! Check us out on IG @preparing4baby_ , FB, and preparing4baby.com for more info! #preparing4baby #pregnancy #postpartum #perinatalmentalhealth #postpartumdepression #postpartumanxiety #prevention #education #support

Gratitude is something I talk a lot about it my personal and professional life. Sometimes the concept can be a bit misunderstood. I hear people say, it can feel inauthentic or fake. Especially when hard times are present. I like to make a very important distinction about gratitude. In order to have true gratitude, you must first acknowledge your pain, suffering, and struggles. These need to be seen! Then once fully in the pain, we can truly make meaning and see the beauty t...hat is also present in life. Maybe this is just in the little moments. Practicing gratitude can be a powerful tool in your growth and healing process. As we get ready to enter the last month of an incredibly trying year, I encourage you to acknowledge your pain, sit with it for a while, and then lean in to gratitude #gratitude #growth #healing #reflection #ownyourpain #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #therapyiscool #breakthestigma #therapyforteens #therapyforadults #therapyfornewparents #therapyfornewmoms #therapyfornewdads #parenting See more

1 in 4 people experience miscarriage, infant loss, or stillbirth, yet this is still something we do not talk enough about. Today is Pregnancy and Iinfant Loss Remembrance Day. If you have experienced this kind of loss please know you are not alone, your grief process matters, and it is ok to talk about. There is support if you want/need it #pregnancyandinfantlossawareness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #therapyiscool #breakthestigma #parentalmentalhealth

Today is World Mental Health Day. Now more than ever it is apparent how many people are struggling and how crucial mental health is to our well-being. It’s ok to not be ok. Let’s help end the stigma! #worldmentalhealthday #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #therapyiscool #breakthestigma
