Look at Angel Wings go! This cute little mare is working hard to build her confidence outside of the arena. Her next 30 days will focus on trails, obstacles, gymkhanas and life as an all around saddle horse.... #adoptablehorsesoflifesavers #adoptablehorses #wildhorserescue #lifesaverswildhorserescue #mustangmare #adoptdontshop

Good morning and happy Tuesday! For those who have been following Shawna and her training progress, you’ll be excited to see how nicely she is coming along. Shawna is finding her confidence and putting forth her A game. Smooth transitions in the round pen (walk/trot/canter), riding out alone around the property, building her skill set in flat work in the arena and playing games in the obstacle course.... Slow and steady builds success with this girl. It won’t be long before we expand her training to explore the adventures of the trails. Shawna is currently available for adoption to an experienced home only. For more information please contact us via PM or by emailing us at [email protected]. #wildhorserescue #mustangsforadoption #dontshopadopt #lifesaverswildhorserescue #shawnathemustang

Copper 2014 Sorrel mustang mare 14.3 hands 120+ days under saddle... Best suited for intermediate rider or advanced beginner with a trainer. This mare would make a great endurance horse or low level jumper who enjoys the balance of work and trail adventures. Great day meeting new friends and having fun playing on obstacles. The best way to building a well rounded, confident mount is to take every opportunity to expose them to the world and have fun. Our adoptable horses, Volari and Copper sure did a great job, working hard daily to continue building their skill sets while they wait for their special human to adopt them. Thank you to Diane Pitzler and Gray Stone Ranch for hosting a wonderful clinic, and introducing us to the aren...a of competitive Trail Trials. #wildhorserescue #trailtrials #adoptablehorsesoflifesavers #Volari #Copper #mustang #havingfunwiththeponies

6 If you want to succeed , improve your training level or just generally be a better rider... you need to set goals. Not having any goals in mind leads to a lack of focus , boredom, frustration and a feeling of stagnation. Examples of Equestrian Goals : ‘I would like to improve my seat!’ ‘I want to learn how to train at Liberty.’ ‘I want to win the next competition!’ ‘I want to be able to go on trail rides.’ ‘I want to strengthen my horses topline.’ .... To be able to accomplish your goals you need to know how to set them. Goals setting is always a process. No matter how your goals look like - it’s always a process. It includes considering what you want to achieve and why you want to achieve it as well as a lot of hard work. . If a goal doesn’t truly motivate you it means that you won’t thrive during trying to accomplish them. Eventually you will just stop following through with you action steps simply because the main goal and the why doesn’t motivate you. Find your WHY To prevent your goal setting plan from turning into a ‘disappointment plan’ it’s important to write down and figure out your WHY The Why behind your Goals should be very personable to YOU It’s the reason for why YOU wish to accomplish a goal. It has to be meaningful to YOU rather than ...someone else would like to see you accomplish a certain thing or see you in a certain position. . Therefore it needs to be something that will endure any challenges. . Base your Goals on your own and your horses abilities. What are your riding strengths. What’s your current performance level. What’s your horses level of training etc. You have to learn to walk before you can run. You won’t be able to graduate your horse from college within 2 months if he just barely entered primary school a week ago. Always consider your own abilities and your horses abilities in a realistic manner. You are a team. . Keep yourself and your Horse motivated by breaking your big goal onto smaller steps. Value every little accomplishment along the road that leads to your main goal. Practice gratitude in the saddle and from the ground. Never take anything fir granted. . Have you ever heard of SMART Goals? For your goals to be powerful they should be SMART. S pecific M easurable A ttainable R elevant T ime Bound Again- always keep your horses and your own abilities in mind when setting SMART goals. . This step is often missed when setting goals. You get so caught up in setting and defining goals that you never actually start to think about the steps in between that you need to do in order to achieve a goal. Write out individual steps and cross them off once accomplished. . ! No matter how your goals look like - never forget why you ride. Getting too focused on your goals can lead to loosing and appreciating the main reason of why you ride and own horses. Don’t ever forget to have fun and enjoy the ride.

Checko and Gomez have been adopted!!! Congratulations to Patti Slepicka and Arthur N. Norcliffe on the newest additions to your herd! These adoptions are... extra special to me because we have been on the search for a horse for Art for a while now and I’m so pleased that we were able to find a match at one of the rescues we work with!!! I know beyond a shadow of a doubt and that these horses will be beyond well cared for and spoiled rotten! Thank you guys for opening up your hearts and homes to these two older yet wonderful horses! I’m so excited for all the adventures ahead! #SHShappyendings2020 See more

Holy cow This mare is Super talented!!! If you are looking for you’re next with some serious skill, keep your eyes on Copper. This is Copper’s first time playing with cross rails and she totally executed her flying lead changes - all on her OWN!!! ... Fierce, powerful and a ton of fun. Great work @Isaias Ocegueda and @Francisco Villalobos for bringing out Copper’s natural talent.

Shawna is just the best little mare ever. She is confident and loves to work for you. Yesterday was her first day allowing someone to stand in the stirrups and ...to move with Seth in them. Not a big deal. We have prepared her and she is ready so it was non eventful. Seth loves this mare and it will be bittersweet when she finds her person. I barely ever get to work with her because he loves her so much and claims her on his work list for the day. See more

Introducing Tito!!!! #LSHR_Tito Tito is among the group of 16 horses that came that were part of a lesson program/rental string. He is a 14 year old, pudgy... Arabian Quarter horse cross and stands at 14.3h tall:) He has a total puppy dog personality, very social but not at all disrespectful. We had the pleasure of evaluating him today to see what kind of home he would be suitable for. He was great on the line (a little lazy into the canter but we sorted that out no problem) and we were able to quickly get on him and go. No rear, buck or bolt despite it being farrier day so horses were being moved up and down. He also wasn’t bothered by the sound of the loud squeeze machinery. Tito was used as drill team horse prior to coming to the rescue and it shows he is calm and takes commands well. Please share so we can find this sweet boy a home of his own:)

Sometimes it takes a village to create greatness! This is Copper, a 6yr old mustang mare with LESS THAN 20 RIDES who just 15 minutes prior to this video being taken had conquered her first trailer ride, stepped foot on new territory and did her first warm up in an open space with no rails and finished with a trail ride that couldn’t have been better. For some this may seem like small peas, but for the rest of us this is pretty damn close to perfect. ... Copper wasn’t born having the education she has today. She had to be gentled, she needed to be shown to trust and respect, a leader to teach her ground work, a community to show her what confidence and authentic leadership is, she needed a patient and compassionate hand to show her safe saddle starting and first rides and a human herd to believe in her. We are beyond grateful for our tribe that has come to be! @IsaiasOceguenda, @FrankiVillalobos, @garretthiggins Darlene Herbrand Dubacher Cheyenne Price Judy Hayman @stephaniszczukowski Adam Rudolph Jill Starr Alex Nadolishny

We took a couple horses out on their first trail ride today and they did amazing!!!! I couldn’t be prouder of these guys! Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue tra...ilered down 3 adoptable horses out to Wild Sage Canyon Ranch so they could get some trail experience under their belts:) For Copper (Chesnut) and Arlington (Black) it was their first time and for Copper it was her first time trailering out! Gallow (Bay) had already been out on trail twice before making this ride her third. We rode for a bit in the arena and none of the horses seemed to have had an issue with being trailered into a new property, tacked up and asked to work! So we headed out on trail and had a beautiful ride! I’m so happy with how well they did, please like and share so we can find these guys a home as well:) and for those wondering.... yes these are mustangs!!!!!

Gallo, Gallo, Gallo! I can not say enough positive things about this cute little mare. Every challenge we put in front of her, she masters. First proper trail ride and Gallo knocked it out of the park. Steep switch backs, intense inclines, mountain creeks and mud, slippery rocks, misbehaving horses, riding next to traffic, you would have thought Gallo was a seasoned trail horse.... If you are looking for a little adventure in your life and want to spend your days rallying in the mountains you will want to come meet Gallo. Shawna is a mare born in 2013 and had her DNA come back as Quarter horse/Turkoman/Hanoverian. This leads us to believe a mustang herd with those genetics. Either way she is such a nice mover and quite the find. She is currently training with Angi Murray to be started under saddle and looking for her forever home. Sassy and willing, this mare is brave over obstacles. Not yet under saddle but very good with her ground work and getting close to having her first ride. ... Please share so this mare can find her person.

Adoptable Horses of Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue 06.04.2020

I’m so excited to see how well our fab 4 are doing with their training. After multiple riding sessions in the arena, today we ventured out into the world of obstacles while under saddle for the first time. Easy peezy! For many of our horses, the obstacles are their happy place. During ground training we utilize obstacles to build confidence, challenge our horses to be mindful of where they place their feet, encourage problem solving and to build trust with their handlers.... The transition from working on the ground to working in the saddle can become overwhelming, stressful, mentally exhausting and at times boring for some. Breaking up work with play, and allowing your horse to go back to known territory helps to keep your horses positive, engaged, feeling safe and their confidence high. It sure won’t be long before we’re hitting the trails. For more information on our adoptable horses, contact us via PM or email at [email protected]

This little mare is Shawna and she will be available for adoption to just the right home. She is here to finish learning all the basics and to be started under ...saddle and she is cute cute cute!!! At just 8 years old, and about 14.2hh, this little bay is a flashy mover. Yesterday she let the saddle be set up on her but not cinched. She did not seem to care much and she absolutely did not care at all about the rope being tight around all parts of her body while moving. See more

Adoptable Horses of Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue 26.01.2020

Angel Wings! Look at the pretty girl go. Second time I’ve ridden outside of the arena and first time riding the obstacles. I remember the first time introducing... these to her on the ground. She was so unsure about it all. But once she got it, she got it and I didn’t really revisit them much until today under saddle. She’s been getting ponied out on trail and has been really sensible and thoughtful when there’s something she isn’t sure of. She even showed us she’s sure footed this week when we ponied her on a technical mountain trail with drop offs and switch backs. She has learned to enjoy her hose downs, stood like a champ for the farrier, stands quiet for saddling, grooming and fly spray, at both the tie rail and the tack room door. She is 6 years old and a stocky 14.3 hands. This future trail unicorn is available for adoption through Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue.

When you have a horse to bring to their new home in Malibu, and a trainer who’s never got their feet wet in the Pacific ocean of SoCal there’s only one proper thing to do. Load up your trailer with training horses and hit the beaches of Ventura. What a great day, and opportunity to expose the horses to the beach world. Silly me, I completely forgot it was a holiday weekend and the first weekend of soft opening to many county and state parks and beaches. To say I was proud o...f our training horses would be an understatement. These horses brought their A game. Going from a quiet ranch in the desert to crowded parking lots, and NOISY active beaches of the cities can be challenging for even the seasoned horse, let alone our green broke horses. Today, everyone gets a golden star and tasty treats for their STELLAR performance. ARLINGTON was awarded his gold star for the first one in the ocean and willingness to explore the deeper waters well above his under belly and playing in the crashing waves. CAYDENCE receives her gold star for her courage and exceptional loading and unloading in/out of the trailer while in a crazy parking lot with cars closely driving by, paragliders above us, and tons of people with their beach coolers, wagons, and umbrellas. And GALLO brings home her gold star for being the most photogenic and personable with fellow beach goers and being the only horse confident enough to take her rider out into the waters. Can’t wait to bring this awesome team back to the beaches. Adam Rudolph Darlene Herbrand Dubacher Cheyenne Price Claudia Seanez Michelle Seanez

When things don’t go as planned, you adapt and make the best out of an unexpected situation. Today we hit the trails with some of our training horses to ride through some of the local poppy fields. We found a perfect spot to park the trailer and unload, or so we thought. As we began unloading and tacking up you could hear dirt bikes off in the distance. It most definitely caught the attention of the horses but was too far away to be of serious concern.... Well that would soon change as we mounted up and began our ride. The dirt bikes off in the distance quickly became very close neighbors, along with a caravan of off-road vehicles and dune buggies. Let’s just say, not everyone was excited to see horses out on the trail and they expressed it. I can’t tell you how proud I was of all our horses. We rarely get the opportunity to train with dirt bikes, yet the work we do on the ground to prepare our horses for what life is likely to throw at us was no doubt the foundation that kept everyone sound minded and safe. DC and Caydence were rock solid! I couldn’t have asked for a better response from those 2. Caydence (strawberry roan mare) and DC (Black BLM gelding) are currently available for adoption, and will unquestionably make a phenomenal mount for one of our lucky adopters. Will that lucky adopter be you? For more information on either of these 2, send us a PM or contact [email protected] Of course we couldn’t leave without getting some beautiful poppy pony pics! All in all it was a great day. PS. The upmost respect was taken during our ride and photo opportunity. No poppies were damaged as we stayed on pre-existing trails. Update From trainer Amber McGee at the Wild Hope Ranch. Rub a dub dub Angel Wings was in the tub. First bath for this pretty girl. As with anything new she was cautious, but then decided this bath stuff was awesome. She really loves being groomed. I told her we had to get her cleaned up for a photo shoot so we can show everyone how pretty she is. While she was drying we tried out the tire for the first time, easy peasy then snacked on some grass. What do you think of her in ...the roping saddle? I think she makes a fine looking cow pony. Angel is 6 years old, a strong 14.3 hands and is super smart and sensible. She’s a great learner, her lessons always seem to stick. She is available for adoption through Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue. First saddle for Angel Wings. She was curious about the whole process and handled it liked she’d already done many times. I didn’t ask for much speed today, jus...t some lunging at a walk, let her nibble the stirrups, sniff her cinch and cruz around knocking over the grooming supplies. It was a great first experience for her. This very sensible sweet mare is available through Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue. See more

11 months ago Lifesavers rescued 4 BLM mustangs from a killpen in Texas. 2 geldings and 2 mares. Surprise! One of our mares was pregnant. Yesterday she gave bi...rth to a little girl. As you can imagine with 400 horses already - the last thing we need is another one - especially now. BUT she's here and we love her. So far everything looks good, but we are praying that she will be a strong healthy filly. Donations are appreciated in this time of hardship. https://wildhorserescue.org/donate-now/donate-now/

Sun Standing Still is still looking for her forever home. This mare is sensitive, brilliant, easy to train as long as you understand what makes her tick, athlet...ic, and willing. Gentling a horse is SO many things. It really isn't just about the saddle starting training and all the basic ground work but also about the way the horse feels about what is being done with it and teaching them to respond and not just react. Yesterday we went on a walk because I want Sunny to be connected to me and trust that I will keep her safe. She was so good and not overly nervous even with all the quail that kept jumping out of the bushes as we walked past. I took her to Jacks place and tied her while I hung out and watched her. She was curious and confident. I can't wait until she is ready to actually ride. So far we are saddling her with the english saddle, putting the western saddle on her but not cinching it, playing with obstacles, sitting on her bareback from the fence, and she is turned out in a large pasture with others and is easy to catch there. She is wonderful. If you need a red powerhouse and have a great trainer to work with to get her finished this is the mare for you. Please share her wide and far so she finds her person. This one is special. See more

Well ladies and gentlemen, DC performed like a rock star out on the trail. This came of no surprise, something about this little guy said he was going to be a veteran on the trails. We encountered cars, atv’s, barking dogs, green horses spooking at nothing, scary garbage cans, flapping deflated balloons, a small herd of horses running towards us and our final track back home in the dark. DC did nothing more than stop, assess the situation, gave a funny look and walked off. ...He was just as confident in the back as he was in the middle and front of the group. He had no qualms with horses going out and trotting away from him and walked home just as polite as he did going out. DC definitely enjoys taking his time, leisurely strolling the trails and taking in the scenery. He is a phenomenal listener and doesn’t mind a nice jog to change up the pace. He is sure footed, and mindful when traveling up/down hills and steep terrain. The only trail obstacle we have not yet explored is water. With his mellow demeanor and natural confidence I don’t feel water will be an issue. This little gem is going to make a wonderful partner for anyone looking for a calm, quiet horse to spend the rest of their days with. Best suited for a rider 125lbs or under due to his smaller body frame. 2007 BLM Gelding (13 yrs old) Standing at 14 hands Extra videos and information in the comments.
