The "Raise Your Voice" playwright competition has concluded, and we are thrilled to announce that the winner for 5-Star Theatricals, High Street Theatre and Musical Theatre West is ANGELS OF THE SOUTHERN ACCENTS by Rus McCoy. Congratulations to Rus!! Led by Nicole Pryor Dernersesian, Inclusion Media Group partnered with seven southern California theatres to sponsor the competition and had over 100 submissions. The reading of the play will be held after the restrictions of COVID-19 have been lifted.

ANNOUNCING OUR FALL COURSES FOR 5-STAR’S PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY! 5-Star Academy of Performing Arts is an extensive and professional theatrical training ground for youth. This educational program, run by Educational Director and Co-Producer Tal Fox, fosters connections between theatre performance and the Conejo Valley/Ventura County community. We aim to introduce children and teens to professional theatre and give them the opportunity to develop into skilled actors for thea...tre productions and beyond! Through interactive lesson plans in the online classroom, feedback and insight we strive to develop future theatre leaders by offering a program led by industry professionals. In addition to offering ongoing classes each session, 5-Star offers enrolled students with ongoing support from working actors, choreographers, casting directors, agents/managers, musical directors, etc. providing kids and teens in the community an opportunity for top-notch expert feedback and networking. Casey is a voice and piano teacher with students across the country. A graduate of Indiana University, Casey is a classically-trained pianist and professional vocalist, singer-songwriter, and accompanist with performance and studio credits spanning the genres of pop, rock and musical theatre. In addition, Casey is a freelance writer, whose work has been published in the Chicago Quarterly Review and been awarded the Myrtle Armstrong Prize for Fiction. See more

We just can’t wait for Sunday...and to have the magnificent Brittany Anderson and Melissa Lyons join our star-studded lineup! A Southern California native, Melissa has worked extensively in concerts and musical theatre throughout California. She is the singing voice of Barbie for numerous films, toys and albums, including the animated features Barbie as the Island Princess and Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper. Some of her credits include: Eponine in "Les Miserab...les" (National Tour); Grizabella in "Cats' (Cabrillo Music Theatre); Peter Pan in "Peter Pan" (Cabrillo Music Theatre); Principal soloist for California Philharmonic (Walt Disney Concert Hall). She has also been a member of the Los Angeles Musical Theatre Guild for 13 years and has been seen in their productions of "City of Angels" (Bobbi/Gabby), "Spitfire Grill" (Shelby), and "Chess" (Svetlana) to name a few! She holds a Masters in Music (voice performance) from Cal State Long Beach and a B.A. in Music (voice performance) from UCLA. Melissa currently teaches voice at Fullerton College. Brittany is thrilled to be a part of this concert with 5-Star! She is from Southern California and received her B.A. in Music from The Master’s University. Some of her past favorite roles: Laetitia in "The Old Maid and the Thief "(PCC), Charlene in "Dreamgirls" (Cupcake Theater), Medda Larkin in "Newsies" (SVCAC), Mrs. Britt in "The Music Man" (5-Star Theatricals), and recently played Sarah in Musical Theatre West’s production of "Ragtime". And five years ago, she was a part of the Josh Groban: Stages Live concert, which aired on PBS. Mitchell is excited to be a part of this awesome drive-in experience with 5-Star Theatricals. His first production with 5-Star was as Judah in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" directed by Will North and choreographed by Dave Scott. He has been blessed to a part of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (5- Star Theatricals), "Shrek" (5-Star Theatricals), and the one night only performance of "Dreamgirls: In Concert". Follow him on social media at @mgjohns if you want some fun content that will bring you joy and ask the question Why does he have that French Frie Costume? Jonalyn is currently starring as Karen in the first national tour of "Mean Girls" after appearing in the original Broadway cast in the ensemble, and as an understudy for Cady, Karen, and Regina. She will be seen as a Jet girl in the upcoming "West Side Story" movie remake directed by Steven Spielberg. Other Broadway credits include "Cats", "Holiday Inn", "Honeymoon In Vegas", and "Bullets Over Broadway". She has performed in regional theaters around the country, and graduated with a BFA in Musical Theater from Syracuse University. She has been in numerous 5-Star productions, starting with "My Fair Lady" when she was 5 years old. This online intensive is suited for students ages 10-16 who are passionate about musical theatre and growing their repertoire and developing technique in voice, acting, and dance. Each student will leave this intensive with a monologue, a new musical theatre song, audition cuts, and additional technique and knowledge to build on their skills and use towards pursuing an acting career. ANNOUNCEMENT TIME: Due to popular demand, Tal will be hosting another week-long Masterclass starting August 24th! All details below!... MUSICAL THEATER INTENSIVE Length: 1 week Date: Monday-Saturday, August 24-29 Time: Mon-Fri 3pm-6pm, Saturday 10am-1pm Cost: $175 Back by popular demand, this online intensive is suited for students (ages 10-16) who are passionate about musical theater and growing their repertoire and developing technique in voice, acting, and dance.
