Santa Cruz County gets a gold star for taking precautions around the COVID-19 coronavirus: A press release has just been issued regarding some relaxing of restrictions. Based on improved test positivity and case rates, the California Department of Public Health has moved Santa Cruz County into the Orange Tier in its Blueprint for a Safer Economy. Beginning today, previously opened sectors such as restaurants, places of worship, movie theaters, and museums may increase indoor ...operations to 50 percent of capacity. Retail establishments may now open at full capacity. Refer to sector-specific guidance: https://covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy Bars, breweries, and distilleries may resume outdoor operations, wineries may resume indoor operations at 25 percent capacity (or 100 people, whichever is fewer), and gyms and fitness centers may increase indoor capacity from 10 percent to 25 percent. Previously restricted sectors such as amusement parks, family entertainment centers, non-essential offices and live-audience sports may open with modifications. Refer to sector- specific guidance for details. Although movement to the Orange Tier is a sign of reduced disease transmission in the community, COVID-19 cases are rising nationally and are expected to increase locally as we move into the winter. Residents are advised to continue wearing face coverings, practicing social distancing and avoiding gathering in large groups. For more information on the State framework, visit: https://covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy For local information on COVID-19, go to www.santacruzhealth.org/coronavirus, call 211 or text COVID19 to 211211. Residents may also call (831) 454-4242 between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Jon Payne of Boulder Creek writes in the San Lorenzo Valley Post: "I bought this place with the vision of building a community of friends. With the plans of hosting music events, recording albums, making a ceramics studio, cob house, and having a small farm with chickens, ducks, and edible gardens. And I did all of this. As a musician, I am connected with fantastic musicians around the state. I hosted them in my living room. Community members attended these shows. Touring mus...icians stayed here for free so they could save some money while out on the road. Bands would rehearse and retreat here. I made albums in the living room with my bands Wolf Jett and The Painted Horses. I drove up to the house with a fireman friend. My heart was pounding as we passed through the charred forest, burned down houses, and active fires. We pulled up and my heart sank." Read more in the San Lorenzo Valley Post online:

David Miller of Nomad: Live at Lille Aeske on the truck!

San Lorenzo Valley Post 08.08.2020

Lille aeske arthouse in downtown Boulder Creek hosts live music, libation, and art in a closing reception this evening at 7:00 pm. Join us for the closing reception of our art exhibit "Rising from the Flames." The fired Raku ceramics of Andrew Irvine have been inspirational for us all month. Also, take a viewing of our ongoing exhibit featuring the artifacts from the CZU Lightning Complex Fire. Our guest musician will be local singer-songwriter, Dave Miller of Nomad & Driftin...g Compass. With Amish and Mennonite roots as a songwriter, his songs are filled with thought-provoking stories and troubadour wisdom that he experienced and learned throughout his travels on the road and in his journey through life. Dave's music is described by Aaron Carnes of the Good Times as "Heart-on-sleeve, travel-worn original songs as well as an eclectic array of covers in a Rock & Roll, Alt-country, and Americana style." Dave Miller's music will be performed on the truckbed outside of lille aeske and we will allow COVID safe viewings of the artwork with access to our full bar menu and food items. Please remember to bring your masks and maintain 6 feet social distancing at all times. See you there!

San Lorenzo Valley Water has announced a Do Not Drink-Do Not Boil update for areas west of the Hwy 236/Paone Dr. intersection including West Park Ave, Boulder Brook Drive, Virginia Ave, and Ridge Drive. Based on water quality samples collected over the past week and the District’s understanding of its water system operations during the fire, the State Water Resources Control Board has approved cancellation of the Do Not Drink-Do Not Boil notice in the service areas listed abo...ve. Customers in these areas may resume using tap water for drinking, cooking, and all other normal uses. San Lorenzo Valley Water District plans to continue testing water throughout the system, including the areas where the Do Not Drink-Do Not Boil notice has been cancelled. If test results reveal anything harmful, you will be advised promptly. "We understand a lot of these areas sustained significant fire damage. Our deepest condolences to those who have lost their home. If you lost your home, we should already have you on our catastrophic event listing. We still wanted you to know that the water has been cleared to use again, which we figured may be needed for insurance/rebuilding procedures." For more information, visit the CZU Fire Water Quality page. Here you can find the most current notices, lab results and FAQs. https://www.slvwd.com/water-q//czu-fire-water-quality-info Updated maps can be found here. https://bit.ly/2TmP01Y See all memos here. https://www.slvwd.com//cancellation-do-not-drink-do-not-bo We are very pleased to announce today, 10/23/2020 that we are lifting the remaining Do Not Drink-Do Not Boil (DND-DNB) order in the Boulder Creek area including: all services west of the Hwy 236/Paone Drive, West Park Ave, Boulder Brook Drive; Virginia Ave and Ridge Drive. The District’s water supply is non-detect for contaminants from the August CZU Lighting fire. The DND-DNB release occurred sooner than anticipated do to our staff’s tireless work sampling water quality and restoring the water distribution system. With the DND-DNB order lifted, the District can shift all of its focus to repairing the remaining fire damage. There is still a lot of work to do repairing the system and restoring watershed lands. The District won’t rest until we have the system repaired above and beyond its original structure. The Board of Directors and I want to sincerely thank all of our customers for their patience and understanding during this emergency. It is a pleasure to serve such a wonderful community. Rick Rogers, District Manager
