We want to continue to share the inspiration from our most recently graduated Transformation Leadership class! Dorene is an incredible woman. For years growing up, she faced many hardships. She didn't learn how to read till she was 16. Now, she's completing her Master's degree in social work at USC, and plans to be a social worker, servicing military service members and their families on Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base. Through it all, Dorene has used affirmations to build herself up. When asked what positive affirmations uses, this is her response: "Dorene, you must be a queen with all that strength that you bring. Your tenacity can never be stopped because of your patience, passion and love for oneself to succeed. This is your time! This your moment! Keep fighting for what you want and know that nothing can stop you!"
As part of Domestic Violence Awareness month, Ruth Batton shares her powerful piece My Story, Her Story, His Story. Ruth is a survivor and a graduate from our 2009 Transformation Leadership program and has been an instructor for our Leap to Confidence class for several years. Ruth shows women that the road to thriving happens from letting go of the past, creating a new life story, and surrounding yourself with people who believe in you and cheer you on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTXMULS_u-k
If you're finding yourself in need of a little self-care today, take about 30 minutes out of schedule to watch the replay of our very first Self Care in Stressful Times webinar all about Mindfulness. https://buff.ly/2TqxlGm If you haven't already, we would be very thankful if you fill out our survey. We will be using the results from this survey to help inform the content for our new season starting in November: https://buff.ly/37Iekrn... The survey will close at the end of this week.

Affirmations provide the foundational mindset shift we need to cultivate resilience and move through challenges. This is a snippet of China's story, and how she uses affirmations and they have influenced the course of her life. "Two years ago I did not think of myself as a leader, I was at a point of very low confidence and crippling shame. I believed, as I had demonstrated to myself and the world, that I was incapable of making good choicesI reached out and Leap took hold ...of my hand and has been there ever since. That first day in class I wrote: I want choice back. I want mastery back. I CHOOSE to turn my life around Stop crying all the time. As I look back, I realize I have made an amazing progression of accomplishing all of my goals by practicing the skills I was learning in Leap. Now I am working again, for the first time in almost 5 years, and applying to a Master's of Organizational Leadership Program at Point Loma University."
Take some time over the weekend to try this ancient technique to relieve stress and improve your well being.

During difficult times, it's important for us to fall back onto foundational practices that keep us grounded, resilient, and empowered. For us at Leap to Success that means we've really been digging into affirmations. Affirmations are among the first tools we teach to women going through our Leap to Confidence program, and they're something we constantly refer back to. Over the next few days, we'll be sharing powerful affirmations that our most recent Transformation Leadersh...ip graduates have leaned on during these challenging times. In the meantime, we would love to know: What helps you in difficult times? Are there any affirmations you have been relying on?

We are so proud of these transformational leaders. Join us in cheering them on! As China said, "This is how we make the world a better place, one class, one woman at a time." We couldn't agree more.
