Nighttime Training for the 144th Fighter Wing FRESNO AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Calif. The 144th Fighter Wing is scheduled to conduct night flying from the Fresno Yosemite International Airport February 16 through 19 and February 23 through 26.... The evening flights are scheduled to occur Tuesday through Friday until approximately 10:00 p.m. each day. The base has been successful in minimizing late-night flights to reduce the impact on neighboring communities and will continue to use the noise abatement procedures agreed upon by Fresno Yosemite International Airport and other agencies involved. The 144th Fighter Wing remembered Tech. Sgt. Joshua De Leon at a memorial ceremony held in the Maintenance Hangar, October 4, 2020. During the ceremony, De Leon was posthumously promoted to the rank of Technical Sgt. and presented with the Air Force Achievement Medal. The medal and the rank patches, along with two American flags, were presented to De Leon’s parents and his wife. Tech. Sgt. De Leon was a fighter jet Crew Chief, who was known for his expertise, kindness, and wi...llingness to help his fellow Wingmen. For the past few years he worked in the Repair and Reclamation maintenance shop among an extremely close-knit group of Airmen. De Leon had been a member of the U.S. Air Force and the 144th Fighter Wing since 2011. He officially enlisted with the unit at the 2011 Fresno Veterans’ Day Parade and walked with members of the Wing that same day. He had the unique experience of attending USAF basic training with four fellow Wingmen who had recently enlisted with the 144th Fighter Wing. That group of five Airmen then continued on to Tech. School together where they were trained to become Crew Chiefs, and finally, they returned together back to Fresno. Three of those Airmen have since moved to other locations in California, but they shared that special experience. De Leon will be missed. He was an exceptional Airman, and we are honored to have served alongside him. God Bless Tech Sgt. De Leon, his family, and all who knew him.
