Dear GTARC membership: The next General Meeting will be October 27. Online via ZOOM only. See below for PASSWORD. Time: 07:30 PM Pacific Time (US and Canada)... Subject: October’s General meeting will be another round of Show & Tell. Many of the attendees in September did not have the opportunity to share due to time constraints. All participants are asked to be prepared to present one ham radio item that they use, own, or would like to own that may be of interest to other club members. Items can be as simple as an aftermarket antenna for a handheld radio, specialized radios, test equipment, HF antennas, Go-Bags, software programs etc. If everyone is prepared to discuss at least one item and answer questions for 2-3 minutes we should have an interesting time! Your presentation should include the item if it’s small enough to hold up to the camera or a picture if it’s something like an HF antenna or heavy tube radio if possible. Be prepared to give us the name of the item, it’s description, intended purpose and your justification for spending the money on purchasing said item. The justification part is important. Many of us are running out of excuses to spend money on ham equipment and we need some good ideas! Every month on the fourth Tue, 8 occurrence(s) Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/738410683 Meeting ID: 738 410 683 Password now required: 146805 Hope to see you on Tuesday! -- Alan J. I finally got around to installing 2 GeoTool Stake Pocket Antenna mounts. 1 I will use for a Hi-Q antenna and as a 3/8-24 for a whip or Ham Sticks. The other is for the Atas-120. Both mounts work great and look good as well. They bond the truck using the stake pocket strap and I have to say, it's pretty cool!... I've included some pics of the install and finished product. Let me know if you have any questions 73, Harry, KJ6PCW

MVARC WILL BE HAVING THERE GENERAL MEETING THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10th at 7:30PM. ALL ARE WELCOME -------- Greetings and salutations;... I hope this finds you and your families doing well. This month's General meeting is going to be about YOU!!! What does that mean you ask? Well, to put it simply, you will have the opportunity to show & tell anything you want for 5 minutes (to give everyone an equal opportunity) anything HAM related. You're probably saying to yourself, "I don't have anything to show & tell about!" Of course you do anything, from the newest piece of equipment you just got, that antenna you're working on, another project you're working on, anything!!! It's important you get involved and participate. So please, join the Zoom meeting < https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81048467599> , on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 7:30PM (and be ready to show off and talk about your whatever!!! On a different note, some of you have heard that the FCC is proposing a $50.00 fee to New Licensees, Renewals, Vanities, and more. Please < http://www.arrl.org//fcc-proposes-to-reinstate-amateur-rad > to see the latest from ARRL and the FCC. Please make your opposition know by filing comments by using the FCC’s Electronic Comment Filing System (ECFS), posting to MD Docket No. 20-270. This docket is already open to accept comments, even though deadlines have not yet been set. It will not hurt to also send your opinion to Congress. Annual regulatory fees are mandated by Congress, pursuant to Section 9 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended. Section 9 requires the Commission to collect regulatory fees to recover the regulatory costs associated with the its enforcement, policy and rulemaking, user information, and international activities. This proposal from the FCC isn't good for you or I and definitely not good for AMATEUR RADIO. They say it's to recover regulatory costs. I say HAM's self police what costs? They contend it is for rulemaking and user information and International activities. I say not a chance!!! We have VE's that are volunteers that do all the work! Looking forward to seeing you Thursday and what exciting item(s) you will share. Stay cool and hydrated!! 73, Harry de KJ6PCW
