We are honored to announce a new project, currently underway in Ethiopia! This project will explore Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) for adolescents and provide global guidance to meet their specific needs within humanitarian settings. A bit of background: CVA programs are proven to be an effective, empowering, and dignified way to help people access basic needs in humanitarian settings. However, CVA programs often aren't offered to young people [!!], which leaves unaccompan...ied and separated minors living in development camps without access to this vital support. Young people are being left out - and we've joined forces with youth in Sheder Camp, Stichting Vluchteling, and the International Rescue Committee to do something about it. You can read more about it here: https://www.ylabsglobal.org/wo/all/tackling-barriers-to-cva

At YLabs, we use youth-driven or youth-led approaches to guide the process of designing, testing, and implementing programs that support young people. We think that using youth-driven design methodology puts young people’s voices and perspectives at the center of decisions that will affect their bodies, health, and futures. We ALSO think it's way more fun to have young people on your team! ... You can find out more about our methodology here! https://www.ylabsglobal.org/sto/what-is-youth-driven-design

When designing around a taboo topic, make sure that your designs can be hidden in plain sight by using discreet messaging and branding. Since our founding in 2016, YLabs has built a wide array of products and services that revolve around traditionally taboo topics. At @sfdesignweek, we presented five principles that we incorporate into our design process to ensure the social, emotional, and physical safety of the young people who use our products and services. ...
