Porterville Unified School District will be participating in the AmeriCorps Mentor/Tutor program for the 2020-2021 school year. Individuals who are hired will s...upport instruction for PUSD third, fourth, and fifth-grade students in the areas of math, ELA, and social-emotional learning, and provide daily structure and meaningful individualized and group instructional and non-instructional activities. AmeriCorps mentors/tutors need to make a nine-month commitment (1,200 hours) from September 1, 2020, through May 31, 2021, with an 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. workday (36-40 hours per week). Benefits include a $1,400 per month living allowance and a $4,336.50 award upon completion of the required hours. The award can be used to repay qualified student loans and to pay current educational expenses at eligible institutions of higher education and training programs. It can be used in full or in part until the total amount is used or until the award expires. The award expires seven years from the date it is earned. Westfield Wildcats said "Farewell" to our 6th graders on May 28th. The staff awarded them with a Wildcat tote filled with goodies and a special Treat from Stafford's Chocolates customized to our Westfield colors. These hard working Wildcats also received an online shopping spree to Scholastic Books. We love our Wildcat families and thank everyone for coming out to celebrate the "Drive Thru Farewell" with us!! We wish our Wildcats the best of luck on their next adventure!
