Happy Holidays everyone! Even though the holidays may look a little different this year, there are still things to look out for to keep your pet safe. Check out these tips to make sure that you and your pets have a happy, healthy, and safe holiday!
Christmas is so close, you can almost smell it! Do you remember the name of the dog in the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas? #SundaySolveIt
"The friendships you make at Ethos are beyond what anyone could ask for." Did you know having friends at work makes you 7x more engaged in your job, not to mention being happier & healthier? Our teams love what they do AND love the people they do it with, and that makes all the difference. #EthosVetLife
As we all navigate the many challenges this year has brought, we would like to ask you to please be kind and patient with our team members. Our hospital is experiencing an increase in patient visits, and in some cases, prolonged wait times in the ER. This is due to several circumstances, one being that many other hospitals in the area are also experiencing increased volume or have closed temporarily due to the pandemic. Our team is working extremely hard and our commitment to... you remains the same: we will work tirelessly to be here for your pets. We only ask that you understand these challenges and our priority of treating the most critical cases first. Non-critical patients may experience a much longer wait in this climate. Thank you for your kindness and understanding. We are working diligently to increase the size of our teams to support your pets, and we are actively hiring for many different positions. Thank you for being kind, patient and understanding, it goes a long way, and it is appreciated. To Veterinary Teams at Ethos and everywhere: Thank you for showing up every day to be there for your patients and for performing at such a high level. Your ability to bounce back and keep moving is inspiring. Please be kind to yourselves and each other. See more
Today is the day! Ethos is 5-years-old and our hospitals celebrated the only way we know how to from 10 different states across the country! #weareethos #ethosteam
Happy Sunday! Can you guess this dog breed? This noble breed, which originated in Germany and was bred for hunting, took a part during the Cold War.
Tomorrow is Ugly Sweater Day, but we're just too excited to wait! Tedi is ready to show off her "ugly" sweater to everyone! We think Tedi's is pretty cute, don't you?! Start spreading some holiday cheer by posting your pet's "ugly" sweater photos in the comments below!
"The good and the bad sometimes do not equally weigh each other out, but being part of a strong and brilliant team makes that a bit easier." Nicole couldn't have said it better! The compassion and solidarity our veterinary staff have for their jobs and each other gets us through the tough days together. #EthosVetLife #VetLife #VetTechLife
This is precious chocolate lab is Roka! She presented to our team after a not-so-fun fishing trip causing a treble hook to be lodged in her throat. Dr. Leuin (Internal Medicine) and Dr. Thomson (Surgery) teamed up to remove it from Roka's esophagus using minimally invasive, advanced endoscopy techniques. This allowed them to dislodge the hook without surgical intervention! Big thanks to Dr. Leuin and Dr. Thomson for being there for Roka and sending her home, hook-free
Today is Canine Lymphoma Awareness Day and we're reminding dog owners to always get those lumps & bumps checked by your veterinarian, especially if they're on the lymph nodes! Here are the symptoms, treatments, and more you should know about this type of cancer:
Photo contest: You love your pet, and you love your team. So let's see your pet's team spirit! Here's how it works: Post a photo of your pet in their sports team gear (jersey, accessory, toy, etc.) in the comments below by next Friday, November 13th at 9 am. That afternoon, we'll post an album with all the pictures we received. To vote, you must "react" to a picture (like, love, laugh, etc.) Voting will be open until Friday, November 20th at 9 am.... Then we'll announce the winner based on whichever picture got the most "reactions". The winner will be featured as our cover photo up until December 1st! Ready, set, hike! #petphotocontest #photocontest #NationalJerseyDay
Gidget here recently came in for a rattlesnake bite! She was such a good patient for us and we are so glad that she is okay!
Here's an interesting article to spruce up your Monday! Where do you think your dog's happiness comes from?
Let's celebrate the older pets in our lives and post a picture of your senior pet in the comments! It takes a special person to adopt a pet knowing that they won't have as much time with them as they'd like. But senior pets still have so much to give, and still deserve love. Please consider opening your heart and your home to a harder-to-adopt senior cat or dog. #AdoptASeniorPetMonth
Happy Halloween to all! We know this year may look a little bit different, but what better way to celebrate than to show off your pet's current (or past!) Halloween costumes? Add your pet's photos in the comments below!
It's spooky season! Don't have a Halloween costume for your pet yet? Have no fear, we're here to help! Use this to put together your pet's perfect costume, and share it in the comments below!
Happy #NationalCatDay! Ready to play a name game? Post a photo of your cat and a clue about their name in the comments below. Guess on other's and we'll try to guess too!
This is Ranger, who came in for a baby rattlesnake bite! Have you ever heard the rumor that baby rattlesnakes are more venomous than their adult counterparts? This is not the case! While some studies show that the venom of a baby rattlesnake can potentially be more potent, there is in fact far less venom released during a bite. Adult rattlers still have the upper hand! Baby rattlesnakes, however, are much harder to detect because of their small size, as well as the fact that they are born without a rattle, so always be aware with your pet! Medical attention is still recommended for any rattlesnake bite, big or small - so continue to stay wary when you are out hiking with your furry friends!
Halloween may look a little different this year. We encourage you to look up your town's trick-or-treating guidance and if you are giving out candy, keep your pet's safety in mind. Here's a few safety tips for Halloween night: Leave your dog at home: you'll want your hands available for sanitizing, mask-wearing, social distancing, etc. Set up an outdoor station with individually bagged treats for kids to take rather than a communal bowl or handing out treats directly (this way you won't have to worry about any pet escapes too!) Avoid crowds & clustering at doorsteps. Teach children the importance of protecting not just themselves, but others as well!
This is Mufasa, who is being treated for lymphoma by our oncology team! Mufasa is a few weeks into treatment, after being seen through ER for facial drooping and enlarged lymph nodes. Mufasa can be seen here with his take-home stuffed pumpkin, perfect for the Halloween season!
Howl-o-ween costume time! Can you guess the number one halloween costume trend for pets in 2020? #SundaySolveIt
